Im in the same boat as you are Ackbar. I have had no luck finding late night guilds on the NA servers and believe me, Ive been looking. Unfortunately, even if one exists, the lack of overall activity on a NA server late at night would lead to not being able to take keeps and such, since the over all RvR activity leads to Victory Points which sways the zone towards Order or Destruction.
I will be rolling on an Oceanic server in hopes that the 300-400 ping will not be too much. 1-2 in the morning central time should be the when these servers are just getting busy so should be able to get into alot of RvR action. Hope this helps and have fun in game.
Well there was an open pvp server type in DAOC which let you attack anyone and everyone, basically bypassing the realm vs realm gameplay the game was designed for entirely. Open RvR type in War is not like that.
Basically, the only difference between the two is that in open rvr type, you are pvp flagged everywhere in your tier and you can travel back 1 tier as well to gank or whatever you want. If you go back 2 tiers though, you turn into a chicken. What this means is that if youre at the upper end of your current tier, you can go back 1 tier and pound on people in the lower end of that tier and have a 15 + level advantage and help sway that tiers contribution to the overall war effort.
So as far as I see, there really is no great reason for going on the open rvr since this game isnt based around that style of play, but RvR which if thats what you are doing, you should be doing it in your tier since the higher the tier, the more helpful it is to your side controlling the right to sack the capital city.
However, some people like the open rvr concept, I know I enjoyed the pvp servers in WoW on release, it was fun and exciting cause you shared so many of the same areas with the other side while levelling up. You dont seem to do this in War, not at earlier levels anyway. You have pve areas and then you have RvR areas where you should be levelling the other side and of course scenarios as well.
Anyway, Im sure you will enjoy whichever one you go with, I think the Core servers however represent the play style the game was designed around more so then being able to go back a tier and harass lower level players.
Thanks for all the replies guys. It has been 3 full days and no go but I can understand that ordering this late might lead to a slightly longer delay in receiving my codes. Ill just be patient and hold off on freaking out on EA for at least another week. Unless open beta starts before that week is up and i dont have codes yet, then its on!
How long until you received your Beta code and other pre order codes via email? I noticed after buying it a few days ago that it mentioned nothing about how or when I would receive these things. I had to search through their online help desk to find a post from someone else that got an answer but I would still feel better about it if some one here ordered CE preorder through EA store online and received these codes already. thanks in advance.
Yes, very good read. Thanks for the info.
Aside from questing, what do you spend most of your time doing in-game?
