    • World of Warcraft: Learning from Past Releases
    • This article was not done by a blizzard representative. Blizzard does not acknowledge anything in that post. The author of that post is "MMORPG.com's World of Warcraft Correspondent" He is not a Blizz Developer. He does not even know what inscripting will be about as it will add no new spells whatsoever.

I quote: "the addition of inscriptions is certainly a new and extremely innovative idea. Not only does it mean bringing in tons of new spells which make the old spells redundant, but it means having sets of new spells along with increased old ones, giving spell casters a huge arsenal of potential spells to look forward to."

Inscripting will be a method of augmenting spells - not creating new spells in the examples I have heard you will be able to add a knockback to your fireball for instance or additional slowing to your frost bolt or additional bleeding to your cleave

It isn't clear exactly what will be available with inscripting but it's clear that this guy has little idea what he's talking about.

Just so we're all clear this is a report by a private author it's not a release from a Blizzard representative. Blizzard may not acknowledge any of these things as failures and in fact I have read elsewhere that the developers had fun changing the setting away from the main story and going a sci-fi route with TBC.

    • World of Warcraft: Shareholders Approve Activision Blizzard
    • Blizzard said at the front end of the merger that it will be left on it's own intellectually it will just share it's profits out basically.

Activision wants Blizzard so they can push their wares in Asian markets not to change Blizzard.

Also the deal is 52% Vivendi ownership but Activision's CEO will be taking over the new company. So it's kind of in Activision's favour.

However as I said Blizzard assured the WoW community that the merger would not have any direct effect on the way Blizzard makes games aside from having more money for development.

You sir don't realize that all of those things just mean MORE time wasted per death. The only risk is time. Or would you like a game to cut off your toe or take your first-born child when you die in-game?

You can get those items or experience back... they just require more time... So really WoW just have less time wasted per death - which I am all for.

I hated dieing in games with exp/item loss because I had to repeat all the same crap to get to the same place - a huge waste of time. I mean in some games I've played dieing once at a high-ish level was enough to make me want to quit rather than do the same thing over.

    • World of Warcraft: Blizzard Authenticator
    • Personally I like this idea - it will hopefully save Blizzard some money in that they don't have to have as many anti-hacking staff - it lowers the likelihood of being hacked  and is not always because you downloaded something.

My account was hacked because at the time I shared a computer with my mom who has no safety habits regarding executable files and damned if I'm gunna run a virus scan before I log in EVERY time.

It is ignorant to say that the amassed items of characters are just for show - I love playing this game when I have nothing better to do and for $15 a month it's cheaper than a lot of other entertainment alternatives.

I could care less about actually having the epics I just love downing a new boss with my guild or pvping with my friends and guess what: if I get hacked it's at least a week or two before my account is back to normal and I can play with my guild and friends (me and a few RL friends play together) as well as a lot of frustration - I'd rather spend 6.50 Once to ensure security - on that note it doesn't even matter if they get your account info without the dongle which is very nice.
