Getting close to a year for me. I first discovered this game back in January, been checking the site regularly ever since. I'm quite excited about this game, alot of people seem to be turned off by the procedural generation, but I have to say an "endless" universe to explore sounds great.

Okay, here's the deal:
- I've signed up for the Beta
- Account successfully activated, but is unable to go to the Beta Board
- Searched high and low all over the game's website for the link that contains the download
So, where is the download link located?!
I don't feel liking digging up a link, a simple search on the official forums will find you a download link. You still won't be able to log on, you'll have to wait untill your accepted into CB.

Oh and the Milky Way galaxy will be "to scale", if that is even remotely possible...
It's not.
Edit - I went and looked at their site and, as I suspected, they plan to use procedural generation to create their galaxy.
"Procedural universe: Procedural programming is a technique that allows the game engine generate objects within game space on-the-fly, in real-time and on request, rather than manually building everything beforehand. Because of this, the generated universe can be absolutely huge, unhindered by the bulky information structures of previous games. In Infinity, the engine allows for the creation of billions of worlds and millions of star systems - the majority of which will never explored by any player, but that await each adventurous soul. "
So, more or less, any system you visit will be whipped up for you when you get there. Odds are that no one else will ever see the same thing you do, even if they go to the same system, because for that to happen, what was generated when you got there would have to be saved for others to see when they arrive. And if that is the case, it would only be a matter of time before the game would require more resources than are available.
Is procedural generation good? In ways, I suppose. It's nice to have a truly immense playing field. Is procedural generation bad? Well, I haven't seen a game yet that implements PG where it didn't have that "PG feel" to it. And also, boasting of a lifesize Milky Way to explore doesn't mean very much if after you leave a place, you can never return/it isn't the same when you come back to what seems like it should be the same place.
Don't worry my friend, you will see how it all works when the game releases. Very excited about this game, only MMO i've been keeping an aye on since LOTRO.
Well I just finished all 6 parts of the new vid on you tube. I wasn't excited about this game before, and this vid didn't do anything to change that. Graphics looked fine to me, but I just can't get past the animation. The animation in this game is, IMO, horrible. I'm quite un-impressed with this vid and that's all I can really say about it.
I'm happy for Aventurine though, nice to see an Indie's dream come true. I'm sure the game will be quite fun for those who play it, but I don't think ill be picking up a copy.

So you think graphics that belong on a game 4+ years ago is superior to this??
That's a render, not an actual in-game screenshot.
IMO most likely a high-res screenshot. poor quality models & textures though. DF2008 screenshots blow this out of the park even at low res - just look at the low polygon count of the foreground actor, especially the head, and the low quality shadows. eek.
Very old screenshot, was one of the first few shots on Lotro's old Beta site. Medium quality graphics at best with the water quality increased.
How many hours per day do you play MMORPGs?
