Most people voted it over a 7 here:
And it has bee rising the past few weeks. What does that tell you.
Didn't we just discuss teh rampant problem of people making as many user accounts as they please?? It tells me someone has way too much time on their hands.
That sharp rise followed immediately after a poor front page review here on MMORPG.com and the fanbois became enraged and wanted to lynch the guy.
And Yes, I really do beleive someone would go to all the trouble making that many user accounts to bump the number up, it seems to be the life's mission of a few rabid nutjobs around here to try in anyway possible to get some kind of public vindication of their personal emotional investment in this title.
I'll wait for someone to make an Open Source version. I wouldn't doubt some FireFoxer jumps on this bandwagon and mods for the function.

I think a lot of the perpetually regurgitated backlash you see here on these forums is directly caused by a certain poster(s) that members feel is coming here to do 'viral marketing' (their words, not mine).
People tend to 'fight fire with fire'. If you want these forums to be a less polarized place maybe you can use your IN with MMORPG.com and ask the mods to close out the many obvious multi-account-agenda-zealots who are basically making a mockery of this forums intended function.
I am sure you are aware of whom I am refering to. If these people were permanently removed from the boards, this would instantly become a much gentler, kinder place.

I would encourage you to do the same, i have already emailed community@mmorpg.com a few times with very thorough examples and evidence with yet they have acted on, supplemented by further PM's from people pointing out certain things. Game conversation aside, this is screwing these forums up to no end and those people know who they are. It eschews the real context of topics when 20% of the posts in them are from the same person under different names. Such as this thread gives such extremes both ways.
Btw those statements are extreme sarcasm, but it's true I don't need to convince anyone, it's the opinion I have from my own concurrent experiences in game. Take a look at Straddens post here: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/212780 you can just imagine the types of posts to follow if someting like that was posted here.
Many of the users here have done just that, I personally have sent in atleast 4 e-mails in the past 2 months, some directly to Mods I have coressponded with. It seems maybe the staff don't have the proper tools to verify that the accounts are all originating from a single source. It's unfortunate, it hurts the community here as well the credibility and relavance of MMORPG.com as an entity.
A troll thread is a troll thread, .... taking a pro or con stance matters not when folks are basically posting nonsensical rubbish (this OP) and 'nanny nanny boo-boo' to bait replies.
Folks have talked about some of the things posted here as bening 'viral marketting', it may or may not be. But the root effect is obvious. Walking into a church and loudly proclaiming "There is no God, Santa Claus told me so!" will ellicit a ton of responses .. it's automatic.
Either way the conversation that follows is pointless, believers will believe, others will call them fools, the world keeps turning and a real discussion is once again drowned out by zealots and their screams.
I don't have to hate on the Age of Conan, I have a crystal ball, it works perfectly because it sees backwards and history repeats itself. FunCom's attitude toward players and it's uneven policies, combined with their shoddy Customer Service turn every fan against them at some point ... I have watched it happen over and over and over during the last 7 years.
Call it a 'water is wet, the sky is blue' thing.

Again 5 mins of play 5 months ago is nothing to bring to the table and holds little weight these days ...
That '5 mins 5 months ago', sound bite you love throwing around is super dismissive. (Even if Craig Morrison likes to use it as well)
Many of us played to end game and have seen all the patch notes, we know where the game stands, it is more stable, and some of the missing content has been added. But. it hasn't changed as radically as you would like to suggest..
When was the last time you played? August? Sure the game has changed, yes not as radically as you think, that I think! Simple fact is that changes have been implemented, the biggest free update ever just went in and several essential updates are imminent. Those people with a couple hundred posts with nothing good to say about AoC have to wake up and eat the cornflakes and at least acknowledge that the game is going in the right direction and tangible evidence is in game right now, instead of spewing the same stuff over and over. There is a difference from seeing patch notes and playing - ultimately I don't care if people who hate the game come back, there is a factual difference in the approach that information is talked about from those still playing. I don't need to convince anyone, it's the haters that need to convince new people not to bother. Where as I can say play the game it speaks for itself, whatever you feeling on the game either way is ok, but I can recommend it, just like with any other product I like and feel ok with that.
About respect. I can honestly respect your decision to be cautious and the game might not be exactly what you like. Thats alright, nothing wrong with that. There are many of us out there that do enjoy the game though and play regularly. It's obvious for those players to see the differences from day 1 to present some massive differences that have happened, but then you need to be specific in order to get a proper reply.
Maybe Craig read some comments on here - or maybe it is just the general conclusion that seems to hold weight in 99% of one line AoC is shit statements and so wrong for basing that assumption 6 months ago on the game where as it is widely accepted in the community (the same one your active in) that it has changed for the better. Amongst all the hate, AoC ruined my life, AoC gave me impotence, AoC broke me and my girlfriend up, AoC made me do drugs and whatever crappy end of the earth comments people want to bring up it's just a video game, not the saviour of the universe, it had a rough launch and now it's getting better and that is something some people who rather not admit to because AoC some how impaired their judgement from their experience with the game and turned them into a hate parade half a year on saying the same tired responses. It's all around us here, out dated, out of fashion, and some are in need of help..
Simple fact is the hype is over, the dust has settled, the game is not a 10/10 never will be and any other game out there should never get a 10 either. What ever level you put AoC at, it is getting better and that is what upsets some here so much.
This wall of text seems to say otherwise.
I thought I had been paying attention pretty well, I don't think I have ever seen a single one of those statements made here.
Try laying off the hyperbole if you want to be taken seriously. 5mins/5months thing is a perfect example of that
