I am not sure we need eugenics, what we need is to give every person on this planet a choice.
In areas were over population is an issue I am rather certain they would have chosen not to have 12 kids, if the choise was theirs to make.
Same with birth defects, incurable handicaps and so on and so forth.
The time will come when we with a DNA sample of the fetus can give parents a rather precise estimate on what illnesses their offspring are likely to have or contract.
Then the choise is theirs, and should not be anyone elses.
Once the bulk of the human population has this option this issue will go away.
Information and choice is the only way I see to combat this.

come to think of it, Spore will have LOTS and LOTS of user genorated content... to get to it you'll need to connect to a server most likely owned by EA... Which means using something like secuROM is kinda stupid.
Look at diablo and NWN.
People to poor to buy the game will still pirate but the bulk of people who download do it because they are lazy and/or because they do not want hazzle of copy protection, even the games I buy I crack.
Again, this stunt will NOT gain them a single new customer but by all probability cost them lots of customers who were going to buy it.
That is why it is "dumb".
It is ok to protect your bussiness of course, but doing a full cavity search of every person leaving your shop will put you out of bussiness rather fast, the only ones left are those who come for the search, not the wares.. ;)
It took the music industry 10 years to realise how to combat piracy, they are just now learning that the solution is not to chase pirates but to add content to those who pay and make purchase easy.
Extremely unlikely that EA will pull the plug at this point, near impossible I would say, besides mythic still has a say in the game.
But lets not forget that EA is more likely to pull ANY game as soon as it does not meet their rather obscene profit goals.
I simply wont invest in anything put out by EA for the long run.
If the game for some weird reason is doing badly at some point they will make no attempts of CPR, they will just pull the plug.
They have no emotional investment.
Eh, this seems utterly retarded to me.
They are actually making the pirated version a superior version of the game?
Not only will it not make any of the pirates today to buy the game, but probably turn some of their customers into pirates as well.
This seems like an april joke to me.
Is this for real?
Nothing wrong with that in my book, far from it.
They are games that are very far from each other in many respects.
Sometimes we want to watch weekend at Bernies and sometimes we want to watch the big Lebowski, to use a movie analogy.
Being able to apprecaite one does not bar you from appreciating the other.
I played maplestory and eve at the same time, EVE for when I wanted a deep experience and maple when I just wanted to kill an hour in mmo solitude, with no brain or emotional investment.
I enjoyed both, but in different ways.
Besides, I am old enough to not care what people think of me.
I play what I like and peoples view on that is far less then inconsequential.
As with all "slander" it only has a point if the people you target care about what you say.
And the wow people are easy targets.
But then again so is the cult of eve followers, in fact they are even easier to rile up then most other.
Do you Role Play?
