Well, what did you expect?
Funcom practically invented instancing, so this is what they do. And we have to thank them for giving that to the MMORPG genre.
If you manage to detect the subtle irony in the above paragraph you get 1 (one) internet.
I give you a point, but in AO I feel free because of large and huge areas, really great even it"s an old game. In AOC : small zones + invisible walls + instanced.
If you like it, buy it.
I prefer large areas . That's my taste. Large areas, lot of features (crafting from the 1rst levl , housing, large zones : cf DAOC etc) AOC isn't for me at all.
Imo a lot of people who preordered the game without testing it will be disappointed, they can't imagine what AOC is.
To qdancer; forget Lotro, wow and vanguard. (I'm serious)
Only 1 ex: Khemi, Old Tarantia are far from being SW, Bree or Khal, very far.
Don't expect too much. Have fun with combo system, musics are great, chars are great, that's all.
No very far from Uo !
Something like a small EQ2 (small zones, invisible walls everywhere)
But client is working better than 1st days. Now we can try it, and it's not an UO like at all. ![]()
A mix of TR and EQ2 without the housing etc of Eq2. Try it before buying it.
More an action mmo than a pure mmorpg. Not a sandbox at all, very linear... TR like in Conan's world.
Yes , now we can name this ANARCHY Online ![]()

Yes, Funcom has gotten it right in regards to how they are doing their game. The only people who can't shell out the $700 to build a bad mofo comp to run this game are mostly the WoW kids who are playing WoW with a beat up old hammy-down comp.
The game is based upon a graphic novel from the 40s. To portray this genre you NEED hardcore realistic graphics (just as you would with a StarCraft MMO, doing it like WoW would absolutely ruin the StarCraft genre). However, my computer I built in febuarary of 07 that cost me $640 (price has gone down a LOT on the components since then) runs this game on absolute HIGH at 20fps. This with the open beta servers massively crammed and their client in an uncompiled state.
You have ZERO room to complain if your computer blows and can't run AoC on medium.....nuff said.
Agree
My 3 years old computer: amd 3500+, 2GB Ram, x1800xl graphic card runs the game easily in low to medium settings. My february '08 computer runs the game in high settings at 1600x1200 with zero lag.
Stop crying if your computer is 6 or 7 years old and you can't play this game. Just find a job and buy a new machine.
worst community ... and they call "this" mature
my computer is better than yours, .It looks like a school . GL to real mature players.
I'll never buy a cheap computer full of AMD proc. ![]()
How do you feel about advertising inside games?
