    • Did I hear that pvp/rvr is coming to VG ?
    • Raav has a good point. And hopefully PVP does get some attention. It's been a year and a half and SOE has done jack crap for Sartok, the pvp server.

That said, optional PVP is not PVP - It's an arena or simply put, an open area to duel in.

Even in a RvR or factions based enviroment PVP can happen at any time. Making PVP optional  and allowing people to flag for it is pathetic. It's basically just a /duel system that you can turn on and not have to type /duel over and over.

Morever, SOE said they intend to allow PVE character copies to the PVP server. Not a transfer, but a copy. In other words pve people can just move over fully raid geared level 50's for winter wonderland fun and then go back to their PVE server for the 'serious' stuff and /copy again when they get a nice new piece of gear.

Silius (lead dev), Ellrya ( community relations) and Moonlight (Head GM) have been saying for a year and a half that they will NEVER EVER allow PVE transfers to PVP - Yet here they are, now allowing it. Some people might think that is good, but it's not. It permanently screws the balance by allowing geared players who leveled in the easy enviroment of PVE to invade a PVP sphere. Morever, it shows us that SOE has no real plans for PVP at all.

They are basically turning the only PVP server into a large arena. And then when they implementt the arenas on the regular PVE servers, that poor PVP server will be pointless.

Silius really is the worst thing to have ever happened to Vanguard. He makes or approves every dececison. He is a clueless tool. Sorry, but it's true.

    • I don't know. You probably rolled them too many times once too often.

It's no secret the GHC outclassed the AHC hands down in every aspect several years back. If I recall correctly we had to lend them a retired CinC and his staff to help the AHC restructure and get organized. It might of been Meggadeath. But whatever.

If the game has gone arcade as you say, that sucks. I'm hoping unity II or whatever it is will make the game playable.

      Best of luck till then.

As the Tiers go by, the Allies are supposed to be able to make more and more of a stand, then counterattacking. If the Rats keep fucking up like this, the game will die. I'll be there to say "I told you so".

I still remember screaming about 88s doing jack shit to allied heavies in Tier 2 from the front, and fanboi homosexuals saying I was just whining. No, its called, "The Rats gave up a good historical MMO in favor of arcadey horseshit to get more subs."

Roma Victor tried that shit, and the game is dead now. You have to stick to your guns if you are making a realistic game. The sooner the Rats go back to that principle, the sooner the game will pick back up.

No offence, but that is a janky point of view.

If you want a MMO that exactly recreates history, what is the point? We already know how it turned out.

The objective of wwiiol, as I see it, is to create a WWII setting with realistic weapons, a viable time-line for new weapons (that accounts for gameplay balance and achievable challenges) and let the players and their respective high commands duke it out.

If want to scream - "That isnt what really happened in 1940" then I suggest you rent Band of Brothers and pop some corn.

Oh, and if you want to talk about "the old days" MP40's used to fire backwards. That was a total Allied bias also.

Maybe the game has changed, I don;t know for sure - Since I cant even log in. But I do know back 2001-2003 when I did play (Axis Only) The Rats had a pretty firm commitment to non-arcady BS and did a pretty good job juggling balance with realism.

    • I'm not sure why'd look at Seredon only and then say - I don't see it.

Even a quick glance shows that 17 of the 20 threads listed in Seredon are recruitment threads. You should be reading general discussion, the newbie yard and off topic (where the mods move things they dont want seen).

Reading the Seredon section is like reading the classifieds and saying "Bah, I see lots of jobs, the economy is just fine".

As for the numbers/subscriptions, no they don't look good. Anybody that thinks the numbers trend look good are kidding themselves. 736 on Seradon and 569 on Xeth aren't good.

I'm sure the numbers look better during primetime. Do I think the servers can use another merge? I'd say yes. People fought the merge idea before there was even a merge. You will have die hards fighting it this time around too. But the bottom line is, the server was fun when there were 2,000 players around. Right now if you combine both Seradon and Xeth, you probably won't even hit 2,000 during primetime.

People pay monthly to play a MMO to make sure there are lots of people around to play with (and on PvP servers to play against). More is better, even in the Vanguard world, even on the contested Telon.

At this point in time, without SOE dumping resources to the team to make sure content rolls out much much faster, or that fixes come out faster, it would probably be worth while to consolidate the playerbase into 1 server. Remember Telon was made for over 2,000 players, the vision was to have over 3,000 on each servers alone. When you have less players, the game simply don't feel alive.Re

Regarding EQIII - Who cares. SOE is a media whore. If they havent announced it, it's probably half a decade away. So again, who cares. We'll be voting for the next next president before EQIII is around.

The free trial got enough advertising to double the population of some servers. If even a small % of those become members the game has grown due to the trial so far.

What kind of dumb talk is that?

You cant leave trial island until you subscribe -  And you can't join a real server while still on the trial island.

Read the forums, my friend. Groups are hard to find, raids are cancelled due to low numbers, Seredon was and still is less than 900 ppl U.S. prime time, Sartok is still between 30 and 120 people.
