           Why is voting independent useless? If you live in a state that is solidly blue or red your vote doesn't technically matter anyway. One more vote for candidates that get millions of votes is nothing. Voting for a candidate who only gets a few hundred thousand makes your vote have more of an impact. I'm happy to say I didn't vote for Obama or McCain and their big government, cut taxes, and meddle in foreign affairs bullshit.
           Both candidates simply gloss over the important issues. We now live in an age of sound bytes, where people can be inspired by one word ambiguous slogans. News stories report on issues that have no real value while tens of millions starve to death each year. Everyone wants services and government fiscal accountability and yet we keep voting in the candidate that promises tax cuts. Our politicians worry about the safety of the nation’s ports while the United States border remains virtually undefended.
           As an economic conservative I feel that I am not represented in either major party and so I will continue to waste my vote voting for libertarians, paleocons or constitutionalists until something changes. Of course I have no real hope that these parties will ever really win anything but at least when the United States is finally pulled down by our trillion in debt, harmful market manipulation, and over regulation I can say that at least I didn’t have a hand in it.

  • Another reason not to play MMorpgs. Seriously though what are hoped to find out with this discussion. Your chances of getting caught? Your right that right now the chance is practically nothing. Within the next ten years I think that the gold selling and buying will become truly illegal and aggressively enforced because of taxing and security issues. Personally I find Gold buying repugnant and only know one friend who has ever done it.

• • Ted Stevens indicted *CONVIVTED* - **LOSES SEAT**

  • It's sad to see a great politician like this be reduced to this because of corruption. Ted Stevens did great things for Alaska and the country, and all he will be remembered for is his "series of tubes" speech, bridge to nowhere, and his seven counts of corruption. Statehood, Pipeline, ANCSA? Ring a bell? Ted Stevens worked tirelessly for his constituents and I believe that we can at least see him off with some dignity. For those of you that believe that he will be pardoned he has asked that he not be. I voted for Ted Stevens this election in the hopes that he would be replaced after the election by another republican, The people of this great state choose Mark Begich however and I think that he will do well for the state. So before you open your mouth to regurgitate sound bites please research some of the issues.
