Yes they have stated that everyone should sign up regaurdless of whether or not they may have signed up for the Clan Beta in the past.

To the OP: We already have 2 Beta threads going, did this really need a new topic?

Yes.  Was that a serious question?  This thread is not about the Darkfall beta, it is about the past Darkfall "betas" that were announced, even had registrations, and never happened.

      Peace.

    • I just wanted to point out that Darkfall has had a beta registration or two in the past that amounted to nothing.  Don't get your hopes up too high.  If they do have anything like a game, which honestly surprises me, but if they do then I think this might be the lead-up to an actual release now.

After following this game since 2001 I think the chances of a release, given the new video and beta registration, plus the work they have put into getting their trademark application in order  and the fact that they must use it in commerce soon or it will expire....  I would say the chance is about 50/50 that this is the lead-up to an actual release for the game.

I'm really interested to see what kind of game they have if it does turn out to be true.  Personally, after following how they run their business and interact with their community over the years, I would be the last person to send these guys my money.  But this is a game which originally had some great principles at heart, so there is just that small chance that it might be awesome.

      Peace.

    • Official Beta Selection / Beta Information Update From Tasos
    • Hello.

Polarization, you are wrong.  This trademark business is a red herring.  They did have a problem with it, but all has been resolved, that is why the application is "live".  The reason why they are an "applicant" and not a "registrant" is because they have not actually used the mark in commerce yet [at least in the US].  Thus they have filed an intent to use application, which is live, and which can be converted to a registered trademark now as soon as they file proof that they have used the mark in commerce.

Trademark can exist only when the mark is used in commerce.  Registration is not actually even necessary at all in the US to have a valid trademark, but it provides some additional legal protections.  Anyway, as far as this issue goes Adventurine have finally got their ducks in a row, an to be honest the Darkfall skeptics [of which I am one] look a bit silly to keep bringing it up at this point in time.

I'm not a lawyer, but I do know a lot about trademark law.

go away. They didn't buy anything from anyone.

Did you read what I posted or not?  I thought I explained it pretty clearly.  Companies don't just waive their trademark rights because they think it is the right thing to do.  They waive their trademark rights when money changes hands, generally.

Oh so you're saying someone bought the Darkfall trademark from them? and that's why they abandoned it?

      Ya real smart

If you can't understand simple English, why are you arguing with people on an English discussion board?  [Not a rhetorical question.]

Everything I said is a fact is available on the USPTO website for anyone to go verify, I'm just not going to comb through it again because it takes a while if you are not an expert.
