    • The surveys are making me NOT want to buy WAR
    • I do not know how many surveys people playing the preview are getting, since I never logged in during it, but I played beta for the past 6 months and got no more than 5 per play session, and that includes the obligatory logout survey.

It does not take much time to check some boxes and write a sentence or two, yeesh.

I mean, the nerve of the developers, trying to get feedback so the game can be made better! That is blasphemy!

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Revolutionary!!!
    • I do not think it will cost them many millions, but rather make them many millions.

There will be far less grief and ire come launch when the public gets their hands on it. Nobody who did any research at all should be able to say, "I was scammed! They lied to me!"

It is that sort of negative vibe that can rot a fanbase to its core. Just look at what it did to AoC.

Plus, I think gamers are more likely to buy games from a company that has demonstrated superb communication, and always has, starting with DAoC. Part of being great is sometimes showing the stuff about you that is not so great, and Mythic tends to 'fess up to that pretty consistently.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • WoWhammer
    • I do not mind the term so much. Sure, it shows a bit of ignorance, but at the same time the person is fusing it with the gold standard of MMORPGs, which is not too awful.

Better than Age of Warhammer, that is for sure!

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • End Game- - What is really the point?
    • Ultimately, the end game for WAR is similar to the end game for WoW, it is just the method that is different.

In WoW, the motivation is better loot, bigger raids, and a higher arena rating.

In WAR, the motivation is better loot, zone control, and a higher renown rank.

Basically, both games have a mechanism for ensuring one is always striving for something and always bettering oneself. Neither is better than the other, just different.

WoW is more for individual/guild achievement, and quite a bit more loot-based, and obviously based more in PvE. WAR is more about guild/realm achievement, less loot-based, and based more in RvR.

Pick yor poison. Either you raid instances over and over or you siege cities over and over. Every MMORPG needs to have some repetitive source of advancement, and you have to choose the one you enjoy most.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Unbiased review
    • As soon as one reads "unbiased" describing an "opinion" or "review" or "critique", one should know better than to believe it.

This is not a knock against you, Blackjoke, but here is the plain and simple truth: when you give your opinion, it is by definition biased! Any time you say something is good, bad, or in between, you are basing that entirely on your own perceptions!

Everything we do in life is coloured by our past experiences and our personalities. There is no getting around it, and no sense in every poster saying they are "unbiased" to try to garner some more credibility.

The only truly unbiased review would not be a review, but rather a fact sheet of features that did not rate them at all.

      - Public quests

      - Open RvR and scenario RvR

      - 20 careers, 6 armies, 2 realms

      etc.

That is about all you can do without bias, and it is pretty bland. So, embrace bias, as it is far more interesting and educative to hear real opinions.
