    • Best way to describe WAR is "Generic Meh".

One dude said it, now all of you idiots say it like you're not just regurgitating bullshit that somebody else said. It's sort of like these:

"If you don't like WAR, you're obviously just bored with MMOs!!!"

"This guy is obviously a WoWhead even though he never made any mention to WoW in his entire post."

"This guy obviously hasn't even played the game..."

"Why are you playing the game if you don't like it?"

There's a few more on the legendary lameass WAR excuses hall of fame but, these are the only ones I can remember at the moment. Face it, you guys are just as unoriginal as WAR. It's like you're trying to emulate the MMO industry in it's current state.

The entire genre caters to these mad hatters that you're speaking about.  They make games specifically for these "human" wrecks to float about in during their lives adrift in the endless droning sea of their boring repetitive games, like so much flotsam.

The entire scene has become like...those piece of shite horrible tabloids you see in the checkout line at the grocery store.  Yes, they're totally worthless to read, all fluff with no filler, time killers, but people mindlessly drag them out to their carts and read them for entertainment nonetheless.

Like putting a bag of cheetos in front of a fat kid, when you leave the room and come back, the bag will be empty and the fingers of the kid will be orange gauranteed.  Not because Cheetos are any good, they're horrible little salty pieces of styrofoam that give you brain cancer, but because the fat kid couldn't resist.  It's in his nature.  Cheetos brand cheese flavored snacks isn't in the business of trying to be anything good for you, but they know their target demographic, who will buy their product and eat it, so they make it accordingly and it keeps being successful.

Does the kid gobbling down all those bags of cheetos and fritos and doritos ever get any healthier? Hell no.  But does he ever stop buying the bags of flourescent orange tainted snacks to shovel in his gullet?  No, he never does not for the rest of his life.  He's not happy either and he never will be until he replaces those little scrotum shrivelled crunch treats with a stick of brocolli or a baby carrot.

Which is what this entire genre has become, and the people playing it have complacently let it be by shovelling their money over by the bucket load for these same old tired cliche pieces of entertainment "fast food" that neither fill or entirely satisfy but simply momentarily scratch the itch for awhile before it's on to the next carbon copy clone of the same game they've been playing for the last entire decade.

Time for a change.  Any games coming out in this genre that will bring this about?  Not from the looks of it any time soon.  Perhaps it's time to funnel any money spent on this entire genre of games into buying a console system or three, not really doing anybody any good to feed these devs that continue to funnel out the same worn out and tired cliches over and over while bringing nothing new to the table for all the money and time spent.  Good riddance I say too.

Wasted potential is sad.  We could have so much more out of these kinds of games than we do, but the developers and publishers of these titles have no incentive to create anything different or even better than what has come before as they know that people will fork over money hand over fist to be spoon fed the same regurgitated dog slop as they've been sucking on for the last 10 years and smile like mongoloid ape the entire time doing it.  So why deviate?  That's what these guys want, and let them have it I say.  Eventually something will snap and people will wake up and say "you know what? Enough is enough I'll be damned if I give another cent to these clowns until they come up with something worth all the time in development and original to play without falling back on the same old tired cliches and lazy mans patterning without once bothering to think outside the status quo."

Only then will the injection that is needed to bring this sterile and wobbling genre be given as a shot to get things moving in a new and interesting direction.  Don't hold your breath though.  People don't seem to be getting any more willing to stop paying for this kind of tired beaten down and worn out game style just yet.

I would be shocked to see a good new innotavite and groundbreaking game come out in the next 5 years and expect only these mediocre wow clones that are on par with F2P games coming down the pipe and into the cheeto stained hands of those that line up at the gates in a throng to pay for them.  5 years is probably not enough time, maybe not in 10 years will we see anything really worthy of setting the bar higher.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Best Game Since WoW - Hands Down
    • It's a good game and yeah I can agree that's it's the best MMO to come out after WoW.

I won't be playing it any longer, but it doesn't have much to do with the game itself per-se but my overall lack of enthusiasm for the entire genre as a whole.  Playing War since a little bit before open beta, couple hundred hours of gameplay in a large guild on both order and destro sides, several level 20+ characters of all varieties.

Also I'm a huge Warhammer fan, have been for years.

But even this game was not enough to renew my waning interest in mmo titles in general.  I just don't think they've gone far enough in terms of innovative and fun gameplay anymore.  I won't rant and rave or raise my fist at Mythic or anything like that.  In terms of standard fare MMO's, War is indeed a good one and I would recommend it as long as I thought the person I was recommending it too had a decent enough PC and planned to pick a good full/full server to play on.

Other than that, the entire premise of mmo's is just wearing me down after all these years and I'm not even having any kind of fun or adrenaline rush at all while playing anymore.  I never once got an adrenaline surge from the pvp in this game.  It felt as mindless and boring to me as playing in any battleground in wow and didn't provide any sort of rush or exhilaration.

Anyways, nothing against the game too much other than it bored me and din't captivate me, but I was pretty sure that if Warhammer didn't somehow revitalize my interest in this homogenized stale genre then nothing would, and it didn't so I'm out.  Waiting for Diablo 3 haha, gonna be a long wait.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Are you going to renew at the end of the trial period?
    • Still on the fence about subscribing.

I don't know though still. Lose my lack of will to log in even this early and I used to wake up early just to read about this game, now it's installed and I have 3 characters getting close to rank 20 so far and I'm just not feeling too much drive to see the next zone, the next set of skills, the next set of armor I'll be wearing for 10 levels identical to every other character of my class, the next renown rank means nothing to me, the next scenario will be like the one before it was with zero variation, the side with the highest levels wins etc...

I can live with the bugs and slack animation, technical difficulties and such as it's release and yeah that's par for the course.  Not sure if I can live with the feeling of not really caring if I play that day or not.  Honestly I'm probably leaning more toward sticking it out until end game and seeing how that works with all of us stuck in at Tier 4, that might be pretty damn interesting.

But yeah.  There are alot of high points that I like, and alot of lows that I dislike.  Still up in the air if I'm even liking this genre as a whole anymore.  I'm very glad that Diablo 3 is on the horizon let's just say if that game was to release next month, then no, I would definately not be resubbing to this game without a doubt.  Since that's not the case and there's not too much to look forward to playing for any considerable amount of time, i can see my self paying to play this game and watch it improve.

At times like tonight  however when I sit in queue for an hour (full server is the only way to fly) then I end up only logging in about 45 minutes as I get...weary...of the constant barrage of glitches and beta feel gameplay and log out to browse the forums and such.  Times like this make me think that maybe I won't subscribe.  Remains to be seen how much patience I have.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Should i keep stuff like this?
    • If it's white text you can usually do something with it, although there are a few things with white text I've found that I have no idea what to do with yet.  The grey text stuff is usually vendor trash, I'd say just vendor it and don't worry about it.

Also, check your quest tab in your inventory as you play and make sure you right click everything in there as they offer new quests sometimes. I missed a few until I started doing this.
