EA does it again.
Exactly, that is why I preordered mine from www.I-knew-I-might-be-moving-so-I-called-EA-to-make-sure-that-I-could-change-my-address-and-when-I-found-out-I-could-not-I-went-with-a-different-retailer-that-would.com
Did it months ago and my address is now changed over, no muss, no fuss.
Personal responsibility...it's a life choice, like moving outta moms basement except it has fringe benefits.
Ender4: It wouldn't have mattered, I did exactly that and got the same reply (and I didn't even freak out on them. heh)
Ugh, must be some bored ppls on both sides.
Question, how many people here have two or more accounts to hold arguments with themselve so they can drum up support for either side? Raise your epeen... go ahead.
Darkfall is not vaporware, nor is it a finished game (released).
Darkfall is said to be in development (for 5-8 years depending who you are talking to) and promises a slew of features (enough to make it the only true contender to "next gen mmo").
Darkfall could explode like WoW (don't give me that no wai! bs, the fact is that noone expected WoW to do what it did either).
Even if Darkfall gets released it could also easily fail like many others have before it.
The community in Darkfall may end up being extremely immature but could also be extremely mature. How is that different from any other MMO where the forums are plagued by juveniles and the game generally gets a mix of 50/50?
The videos are just that, videos. Try to be objective in your criticism of them. Take your blinders off and see that they are somewhat sub par by todays standards, but also keep in mind that they are being shown on Youtube... not exactly the site when you can expect to see the best quality (the only thing that looks good on youtube as a rule of thumb is ugly things... It is sort of like beergoggles for your computer).
At the end of the day being atagonistic isn't going to "set them straight" nor is being defensive.
I hope that Darkfall not only gets released but is also successful, I don't want it to "kill all other games lulz!" and like it or not it won't. People like what they like and a million people can tell them something isn't good and they will still pick it.
Besides, the more games on the market the more competition, meaning more for the player while the companies hustle to provide it.
Hang in there Darkfall, I hope to see you at release and beyond as failing would only weaken us all.
P.S. I don't owe DF or anyone else an apology about DF to the best of my knowledge so I won't.

According to the mod there will be a wipe after CB. Also, reisu is right, most games wipe after CB. There are simply too many bugs, imbalances, and fixes to allow the old characters into OB (they need the data from the new fixes and not more of the old data). Sorry if it bums you out but that is the Wo of things with testing.
The only people who will stick with WoW are the people who like it for whatever reason. Bless them.
More games out = more competition = more goodies for all.
I swear I'm gonna be pissed if I have to reopen a WoW account just to help keep it alive so I can get regular updates, new content, and expansions for the games I actually do play! ![]()

Its funny watching the fanbois and trolls go at it. Honestly, I find myself agreeing with some things in just about every post made by each side.
We saw this same thing go down prior to AOC release, and I think I can safely say we are not looking at another AOC debacle. The game is fun and quite playable. The game is neither as awesome as the fanboi raves it is, and it is certainly not some bug filled snooze fest that the trolls are labeling it as. The game won't be a huge runaway hit, but it won't be a flop either. Its not gonna put too much of a hurt on WoW's numbers, but it will be a success and has lots of room to grow over the years and it probably will have a large dedicated following during those years. Again, its good enough to succeed and find its place rather high up on the MMO population charts, but its not that "OMG this is what we have been waiting for" type of game.
Its true mobs sometimes stun themselves in place for a few seconds while being pulled. Doesn't happen all the time and its not a gamebreaker. Its also true that auctioneers and the bank don't even work, however, I doubt thats gonna be a huge hurdle to put in and in a game like this they should have just come up with something new anyways then the standard auctioneer and banker.
Its also true the game is very smooth and probably one of the more polished betas in recent memory. We can nitpick, but I saw nothing really gamebreaking. Its also true the game is relatively lag free in all but the biggest of battles.
There are some innovative things, the graphics are nice, not amazing, but their cool. The music and sounds are well done. Don't kid yourselves, its not coming to the plate with near the bells and whistles that WoW did at launch. There is a lot of stuff missing.
I saw quite a few few beta reviews starting off with comments like "lets get this right out of the way, the game looks nothing like wow"......uh... huh??? Its true its a little grittier and more realistic, but its also a bit more bland and looks a heckuva lot like WoW with all the exaggerated architecture and landscaping. My wife doesn't know a thing about these games and when she walked throught the room she did a double take and asked "is this the new game you said you were gonna try, or the one you played before". I told her it was the new one, she hmmmped, said it looked just like the other one, and kept on walking.
Its true the big cities have giant buildings and a sense of grandeur, its also true their kinda vanilla and and empty. Personally I thought the capital cities in Pirates of the Burning Sea were more exciting than the 2 capitals that are making it to launch. There are some cool elements but I shudder to think what the ones looked like that got cut.
Its also true this is a PVP'ers game as Mythic has stated from the start. The shortcomings this game will have at launch will in no way keep a PVE'er around. If your a PVP'er though, their might be enough fun in it for you to overlook the warts. PVP is everywhere! Heck I did more leveling PVP'ing than I did PVE'ing, and I had a good time.
So who should you believe the fanbois or the trolls?....... errrrr both actually.

Folks,
Well, things have been, as usual, busy here at Mythic so I have lots of news to share. So, without further ado and no SNL references, here's the update on my update:
1) Significantly improved NPC pathing - Okay, in all fairness it wouldn't have taken much to improve on what we showed you folks during the PW. However, the NPC pathing is back to where it needs to be and while it still isn't perfect, well, it's a heck of a lot closer than it was just a short time ago. We identified a whole lot of bugs and squashed them.
2) Improved pet commands and responsivness - Well, pretty much same as above. Pets will no longer act as if obeying an order from you was the last thing in this world that they wanted to do.
3) Fixed an issue with textures blurring - Nothing like looking at textures through a blurred lens to make things look really sharp eh? Major improvements in and more OTW.
4) Enhanced Global Cooldown Mechanic - Well, for one the GCD actually shows the correct cooldown time and not the rounded up cooldown time (Hey, what a great idea, let's make it seem slower than it is. WOOT!). The slop timer is working fine right now and we'll continue to look at making the GCD and combat in general more responsive.
5) Continuing to improve Client Stability - As always, lots of fixes going in here. The client is supposed to be more stable (and looks like it so far) but until we get the masses back in...
6) Added new Graphics Settings and seeking more feedback from testers to guide future improvements. You asked for it, you got it. Well, in all fairness we were going to put these in anyway but it never hurts to nudge us a bit at times.
7) Target Nearest Target improved - Yeah! One of my pet peeves addressed.
8) Renown Gear changes and Potency of Potions increased. Tweaking, adding, subtracting, in other words (don't say "nerf", we're still in beta!) balancing.
9) Increased bonus for medal winners in PQs. PQs are supposed to be fun, joyous and not grindy. We'll continue tweaking and changing them wherever we need to do that to make it so #1. (okay, a ST reference)
10) Added more loot bags in Tier 1 PQs - Boy, it's going to be rather crowded when we launch so we just upped the loot for the Tier 1 PQs. We'll do the same to T2 as needed. And when the rush is over, we'll tweak downwards.
So, in terms of some other good stuff, lots and lots and lots of bugs fixed and lots of new stuff added to the ToK. But wait, there's more and we'll address some of it next week as well as more coming info in the next update.
Oh, and there's still no such thing as a miracle patch so don't expect one here. Just a ton of fixes, additions and adjustments. We have another major patch coming as well before launch. We don't believe in miracle patches (miracle whip is a whole other subject) here at Mythic but simply hard work and a talented team.
Much respect to my team that is really doing one heck of a job getting things ready for launch.

I'm so sick of hearing about WoW's release polish, bells and whistles, etc etc etc... Some of us were actually there when it went gold (and before) and remember being stuck on our knees until server reset (and later improved to relog before they finally fixed it), missing terrain, broken terrain (falling through the world loops what fun this was!), misfiring soulstones and the broken /stuck command, lost mail, busted classes, untouchable and missing pets, trainable elites, exploits galore (like fishing for purps anyone?), queues, missing content, missing features, server crashes, broken gear, broken abilities, broken skills, and plenty of bugs. Matter of fact WoW won't even be getting a single Hero class until Xmas-ish (just one even though Blizzard promised atleast one for each class but to be fair it is only a smidge after release date right?)
Guess what? It's nothing new *GASP!!!* Thats right, not a damn thing new about it, those are things that have happened in all releases that I have ever seen (some more than others and I have seen not a few). What is new is the company that doesn't hide behind an excuse as to why things are messed up and make even more excuses as to why they can't get them fixed in a timely fashion. That is definitely one thing that Blizzard has over Mythic, no one can come up with as good of an excuse as they can (I especially loved it when they blamed the testers for their shortcomings before they redid the trees to allow more growth...something many of us had warned about before, during, and after OB).
Do I hate WoW? Hells no, I had a blast both testing and playing that game, there was a lot of fun to be had, the GFX were cartoony (just like they were supposed to be), and the whole premise was more than a little camp (also as it was intended), sometimes I even miss it a little (esp considering I have friends that still play), but I do not like Blizzard and that enough to be hands off for me.
PLEASE just give the "WoW's polish at release!" BS a rest. Chanting it like a mantra does not make it true.
That said, OP: Thank you for actually pointing out atleast one thing that is actually broken *Edit* and unaddressed */Edit* (the auctioneers and banks) I wish more people would find things that are broken and unaddressed to make mention of as I really think it would help advance games as a whole. Thanks Again.![]()
In your opinion, what kind of gamer are you?
