There was a strong reference to warhammer's pvp from the source material I read, I'd guess they'll be refining some ideas from war for that aspect of gameplay.
If indeed it does ever turn out that the emphasis tips in favour of a gankfest, I'll never subscribe to it.
I havent played Jade empire or mass effect, but all the other Bioware games I have played have had a fair amount of depth, great story lines and barring a few irritating bugs incredibly fun.
I'd say the kind of pvp they'll employ is likely to be consensual and from an rp basis, ie there will be justification (no arenas please or scenario crap).
The fact that they have already stated it will be story driven and personal alignment adds context to how npc's react to your avatar is a good sign, they also have stated that the game will be huge from an explorational angle.
Does sound promising, keeping an eye on this one :)
I'm liking the community, sure the scenario's spawns a few bad eggs, but no where near as many as in wow.
I'll lay odds I'm not the only one that likes the tranquility of this game, I seriously despise flooded chat channels ála wow's trade channel or general when the game was launched. General got switched off the second day I started playing wow.
It's just some of the gameplay aspects that are kinda putting me off right now, shame really.
There was almost zero combat in the books, it would be a very refreshing change to launch a game with minimal combat in this day and age.
As I recall, the heroes in the books spent a vast amount of time legging it!
The Thargor playground world (called "the middle realms") is pretty much a sandbox UO type game only in a fairly realistic VR sim, Keyboards in this future world are almost non-existent. The net interfaces are optic-nerve bypass or for the rich; more or less thought controlled. So the heroes are pretty much "inside" the net.
Ach, if I didn't keep having horrific visions of our planet 70 years from now, I'd almost certainly volunteer my brain to be whacked into the cryogenics laboratory freezer now :P
Being born 90 years too early ftl......or not as the case may be!
Silverthorn8 is king when it comes to any OP, for me at least.
Thanks Jack, you're not so bad yerself ![]()
