edit: If its a problem with permissions, try turning UAC off or logging in as the administrator.
I am logged in as the administrator (of my current desktop or notebook, whichever I try to access the old hard disk from) ...
and, excuse my IT ignorance, but how would I go about turning the UAC off with BOTH Vista Basic and XP Media? (notebook and desktop, just for convenience)
Thanks in advance!

SEMPER FI!
well I downloaded Knoppix and put the .iso file on a dvd -- rebooted (obviously making sure that it would boot from my dvd drive before hard disk) and it just booted up to my normal desktop -- tried it several times over.
Could it be because I had the external drive connected?
And, then again, I'm not sure if I did the Knoppix ordeal properly, I just burned the .iso file onto a dvd rather than everything that came with the Knoppix download...
Once again, in advance, thanks for the help!
(btw, won't be responding for a bit, going out for a couple hours)

SEMPER FI!
Hello all again :)
Yea, I know, I tend to pop in when I have questions...how selfish of me.
Nonetheless, here's the ordeal:
My previous desktop "fried" back in '06 (later I found out it was just the mainboard). Let me add in here that for some reason it never worked as a slave drive, so recently I purchased an external enclosure and slipped the hard disk into it. I can access most of what is on the drive -- but I "don't have permission" to get to what I want!
Documents and Settings > Owner > My Documents
I changed the permissions on all the folders and filed in that ancient version of my documents, which gave me the following outcome: I can view pictures and documents that are IN SUBFOLDERS, but any document or picture just floating free in My Documents I cannot access...
"Windows cannot open blahblah.jpg :user does not have access privileges"
There are some important text documents I'd love to recover, and any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance again guys, I love this community :)

(by the way, tomorrow is my one year anniversary of legally dying and being "defibulated" back to life! haha)
Hey dek! Great to see ya again! And yea, I'm out of that darn chair -- heck, the surgeons even cleared me to go back to work and to go get my license renewed as well! The only things now are consistent pain (both by arthiritis and the not-so-perfect reconstructions) and the occasional minor surgery here or there (literally).
Nonetheless, I've read up on what you guys have posted in this thread (obviously) and also on other sites, this site has helped me understand what I need to be doing the most. Thus far I have stopped the "CMI Anabolic Signal" supplement for the time being and am in the loading phase of creatine. I was taking these pills, but I went ahead and stopped taking the pills, but instead purchased this form of creatine monohydrate in the powder form. And, of course, I am mixing it with a fruit juice so the sugar and carbs can break down, in turn, giving me an insulin spike. (supposedly vital to creatine's performance?)
Other than that I'm consuming a little over 200 grams of protein a day. Any suggestions on what else I should be adding or removing from my diet? Also, is it beneficial to take a day off from working out after a severe workout session?
Thanks,
-Murt

IGGY! Great to see ya! Haha, yea of course I remember that! A mod (whom I have forgotten the name of) put me up to it. Good times, good times.
Barkjj: Thanks for the advice, it really is helpful. Though I had one more question, when (as in, what time of day) should I be taking the creatine to get the most out of it?
and, of course... FINWE! Great to see ya again!
In regards to your post, should I not be safe with the creatine? (I'm assuming you were talking about the anabolic testosterone supplement when you said that I should be cautious in taking it) but as far as the anabolic testosterone booster/estrogen inhibitor goes, me, at my age, would it really be detrimental to consume it? I'm in my early 20's I should add. The reason I'm asking this is because of that wreck I had almost a year ago now, with everything I've been on since then, I thought I should be safe consuming this product. Enlighten me oh most knowledgable Finwe! (and by God I hope what I purchased works!) -- and same question as Barkjj, when should I be taking it to get the most out of it--except a slight variance in the question, I'm talking both supplements :)
I should add this: I'm not taking the powdered form of creatine, but the pills instead. I read on bodybuilding.com that it is best to consume post-workout, but that's the power. What about the pills? And what about the rare day I don't make it to the gym?
As both of you, that is, Barkjj and Finwe mentioned, I need to be consuming a variety of other things along with these supplements as they are toxins. Could you guys reccomend some please?
Thanks again, and great to see you guys!
