But but but... They have 400,000 subscribers! How could you need server merges with 400,000 people playing??
I'm trying my best not to use the server mergers in any way to slam on Funcom. This is the one time where they put their ego's and hype on the back burner and did something that is right by their players. The server mergers will make a HUGE difference to the players who still enjoy the game.
There are plenty of other ways to make fun of the fanboys.. I'm just not going to use server mergers :)
Bingo. I really hope this will make the game much more enjoyable for those still playing AoC.
And hey, if we see other servers popping up later it means more subscribers.
A real shame Funcom is handling A Secret World. A non-Fantasy MMO is what the market needs, but I fear most players won't apply for beta and even less buy the game since it has a Funcom logo on it.
Somehow I think the OP means when Gaute Godager gives an interview in the future, blaming players for why AoC tanked and why he consequently had to leave Funcom (I seriously believe the other brass told him to leave).
Craig is already doing good stuff I see.
But IMO, if Funcom wants to be serious in getting people back then sacking Erling Ellingsen might be one way to go, no matter what great a guy he is. As someone said it in another thread, he's the very face/symbol of AoC's mess and Funcom's crap reputation.

we are also looking at the WAR launch aswell. Maybe the sub numbers have dropped to extremely low figures so they are taking drastic measures.
I know that my guild and two guilds we are allied with have had all members quit AoC and move to Warhammer (100+ members for the 3 guilds).
And as for most of us this changes nothing as there is no consideration for us to ever go back to AoC. I personally would quit MMO's all together if AoC was the only one left.
Indeed same here. That is one point AoC-fanbois* don't seem to realize is that if Warhammer fails (or WOTLK) they assume people will come right back to AoC. Some will, but my educated guess is most people might just leave MMOs altogether.
*Just to cover my rear here, when I say fanboi I mean those guys who won't admit a single fault with the game and pounces on anyone saying anything negative.
