  • I play plenty of point and click games that have no WASD. I can handle it. I realize the technical reasons behind them NOT using WASD.

    That said, all of those other games, even older games, have good pathing. Mabinogi doesn't have ANY pathing algorithm.

    The "many people" I refer to are the numerous folks in the Mabinogi Technical Support forum who have found no resolution to the "Black screen after Nao" problem.  Check it out for yourself.  They're in there.  There's a new thread about it roughly every other day, and I bump the thread that I posted in about once a week.

    My system isn't a problem.

    AMD Athlon 64X2 5000+ (2.6Ghz)

    2GB RAM

    nVidia GeForce 7300 GT   (Not the -best- video card, but not the worst) 256M onboard RAM

    I did manage to get in the game by playing past the "problem spot" on my husband's computer, and logged out in the village.  Then, I could log back in on my *cough* sub-par system.  It is NOT a video card issue, it runs the game quite perfectly.  A bug that prevents people from even getting into the game is not to be expected from ANY mmo.

    This system plays tons of high-end games, including but not limited to World of Warcraft and Bioshock.  It also plays every other piddly asian-imported freebie MMO out there.  Care to make more wild, baseless statements about how it's clearly a hardware issue?

    I'll agree, there is probably a conflict somewhere.  One that needs to be addressed by Mabinogi/Nexon staff, not by me buying a new video card, and I am NOT THE ONLY ONE with the problem.  Do your own research before you accuse someone of making up statistics.

    I played the game enough to realize that its features do not outweigh the negatives.  I fought several things, thanks.  I also randomly recieved a quest to take a green gem to the banker, though I don't know where the quest came from (no one I spoke to gave it to me), and it gives me no clue where to find one.

    There are tons of free games out there that have friendly customer support, look better (Mabinogi is incredibly jaggy by today's standard in games, compare Mabinogi with say, Fiesta (Outspark games)).

    Why you would give money to a company who maintains terrible customer service is beyond my ability to understand.   I suppose if you're the kind of person who likes to play substandard games or likes to know that you will recieve NO help when there's a problem, then Mabinogi is the game for you!

    For the rest of you..... find something better.

  • Reasons not to play this game:

    No WASD movement.  Wouldn't be a big deal, except the pathing sucks.  Pardon... it doesn't suck.  It doesn't -exist-.  Sure, you can click a place on the minimap to go there.  You'll run to it in a straight line.  If you hit an obstacle, it will jerk you sideways a step, and try to move forward again.  Three tries and it quits.

     Many people have issues with the games movie not playing after you speak to the primary NPC after character creation.  Normally, wouldn't be a problem... EXCEPT, when the movie doesn't work, you're stuck at a blank, black screen.

     Customer service doesn't exist at Nexon.  Regarding the black screen issue, I submitted a support ticket.  It went something like this: [detailed explanation of what happens] I tried to fix it with solutions A, B, C, and D that I found on the forums.

    Their reply went like this: Please try A, B, and C.

    Then they CLOSED THE TICKET.

    So I submitted a new one.  I said I had already tried their suggestion, as I explained in my original ticket.  They said: Please try solution D.  If that doesn't work, e-mail this address with your dxdiag.  Then they CLOSED THE TICKET AGAIN.

    So I did.  A month later, I REsubmitted the e-mail.  It's been another 2 weeks since the second e-mail, and ZERO response.

    Worst. Customer service.  Ever.
