I hate second life because it doesn't give me the escapism I want. If I wanted to check out girls in short skirts or signs saying "Obama 08" I can do that by taking a walk down the street.
Anotherwords, you got as far as the Welcome Area and quit. ![]()

I would expect graphics to be superior to most MMO's considering there is no combat in this game. Instead it looks like something we'd see 10 yrs agoAgreed. There needs to be a massive graphics overhaul.
Try the Windlight Client.
I was always complaining about SL looking like WoW with its dated graphics. Then they came out with the Windlight Client. MUCH better!!
It's no "Crysis", but pretty damn good for something that has to stream everything.
I must admit that its not for everyone. Those with older systems may not benefit much.
But hey! I pull in 30-60+ FPS most places, so I'm not complaining!! ![]()
**EDIT**
For the post about someone's friend encountering "NAMBLA"?
I say "Bull". Been there 4 yrs and have yet to see any sign of them being there. Even if they were there, groups like that are quickly banned and the FBI notified of them.
Why would your friend go looking for NAMBLA anyways? ![]()

whatever abilities you have to make 1,000's of cash in secondlife would end up making you at least twice that in real life(first life :D ).
Yes. BUT- if you already have REAL money to spend, as some do, you can easily set yourself up as a landlord.
Yet where else can you invest $0, and turn it into $$???
At one time, Basic Accounts (a.k.a. Free) got $L50 every Tuesday.
I used that for uploads ($L10 per upload). Spent a few weeks uploading textures, skins, and sounds.
Now I'm a Premium Account, own land which I could easily sell off for 4 x what I paid for it (which would net me a nice tidy sum), and I pull in anywhere from $300-$500 a month on stuff I did 2 years ago.
SO- for sinking in $0, I managed to have a hobby that pays for itself plus extra.
I use the REAL world paycheck for bills N stuff. SL provides me the FUN money. ![]()
Much better hobby than scrapbooking IMO. ![]()

It's NOT a game. It's a Platform.
#1 Rule of Second Life: Don't come with hopes of making "Big $$$". Come for the fun. The social experience. Come with an open mind & a willingness to learn new skills.
Just as a Real Job, a Second Life job can eat up alot of time.
Last I checked, the conversion rate was:
$L275 = $1
