  • Well, that is really sad for the mindscape community.

    I play on a German server. The launch there was actually quite smooth. I got my box on the 27th and was able to log on and start playing, no problem. A number of people got their box (Amazon was a bit tardy again) on the 28th and the servers filled up considerably. The community seems to be very nice and helpful.

    I like this game a lot and, as I said before, I think it deserves a chance.

    But seeing the mature crowd answering to this thread (sorry to those who answered my question, and not just flaming me), dont make me wanna go back to AoC at all. Ill just go back to lotro, where ppl actually are nice, and theres no such thing as a stupid question.!

    Oh, no. Not 90% of the posters at all. Just some very, very vocal posters, who manage to totally dominate this forum and constantly downtalk a game, they have cancelled ages ago.

    The thing is, the normal or at least avarage forum member comes here perhaps once a day and posts a couple of answers. There is no way they can counterbalance this onslaught from some very determined posters.

    I will probably also avoid the AoC forum here again. It is just badly managed and throws a bad light on the MMORPG.com forums altogether.

    Well, the game only launched in certain European countries. All countries served by Acclaim will start Closed Beta testing today, I think, with the launch scheduled in January. So perhaps this is the reason, you got your key. Try it out. It's a nice game.

  • It is the newest thing on these boards to claim, that anybody professing to liking AoC has ulterior motives.

    Sadly, I am not being paid to post my opinion here  , I am also not from Norway or trying to get people to boost the population on my server, as I am on a German RP-PvP server, named Asgard. (It is well populated, btw.) I don't think, there are too many German speaking people on this board.

    The game has been getting better with each of the latest patches. You can't compare performance with what it was like at launch. No OOM crashes anymore (at least for me and most other players). They are trying to make PvP more fun (armour, murder system) and on my server guilds are sieging regularly. They also closed certain quest gaps for the level 50s and 60s.

    What needs to be done still: More content for the lvl 80, rather fast. I think they are working on this. More and better raids. Sieging has to become smoother and bug-free.

    So, you see, AoC is certainly not perfect. Far from it. But it is an entertaining game and nobody has to explain or even excuse themselves for liking it!
