Yes, sieges are broken and if you've attended any..any at all, it would expose you to an entirely different level of programming incompetence. Gamers, willing to delve into spearheading a siege, well those numbers have dwindled and the motivation to partake in an unrewarding system..in nearly every aspect. Most importantly, a waste of time.
Sadly, reports here of a dwindling playerbase are accurate. This is also a concern going forward, particularly in regards to the promised "massive pvp" experience. The official AOC forums had a couple of posters from the Tyranny server claim sieges were commonplace and improving. Well, we went to investigate and it was a bogus claim. People must forget you can actually create characters on these servers.
The weapons, the point system, the lag, the line of sight, unattackable buildings, freezes/lockups and general performance, siege window issues, guild hopping requirement for some to participate, warping, invisible barriers & walls, horrendous bidding system, the keeps themselves..That's just to name a few, let the official forums posters concerns and issues complete the list.
The entire concept is amateur at best. My only wish for all players that haven't experienced the siege content? Is that they had or will soon. Then watch some of the FC videos explaining how it would function.
Anyone really interested in understanding our frustration, should invest some time on the official forums, read what hasn't managed to get deleted. Anyone that says "working as intended" or "fixed" is a liar.
Siege is beta at best
Since Funcom has an obsession with lowering the bar and introducing fundamental script errors with every patch. And the product continues to deteriorate, no reasoning can be applied to a favorable experience on test tomorrow. I'm sure we, the legitimate subscriber/player base will have our proverbial fingers crossed for our first successful patch on test since launch.
If your on the fence about participating on the test server, please consider moving over before canceling your account. And keep an eye on the player response and reaction within the official forum. Please do so in a timely manor as their is a strong possibility posts expressing concern and displeasure are removed.

Grats to the new title Blacksac, sorry, Avery! You had one before too. It was: "Funcom's mmorpg.com correspondant". I have known for some time that you get paid by Funcom, not in cash, but you get paid in perks, inside information, probably a free subscription, they will invite you to have a preview at the expansion in 2010 etc. Its really a no-brainer.
Smart now to go out and be semi-official but with a twist! You represent this page and not Funcom! I admire you for that move, one of the smartest you could have made.
The fact that Funcom is trying to control this page (not with mods but with information) is just another sign of them being DESPERATE for subs. You think Famine would post here if things were going well for AoC?
It's an insult to the community. While their certainly not articulate, it's apparent that blind optimism and a willingness to embellish are replacements for honest assertion. With MMORPG identifying the deceptive avatars with titles, it at least gives a bullseye for the anti-biotics (that are on the way) to stamp out the infection and offer some legitimacy to the forum.
Funcom & the gaming companies need to stray away from the children flag bearers. Consult some adults and prepare a successful campaign to influence potential customers. This one is backfiring, with momentum a historic term for that failing company.
The OP was right..a monetary subscription to these gaming service websites might be the only way to combat the deceptive marketing practices and restore some legitimacy to their respective communities
.
I would be interesting to know what differences there would be if they intentionally attempted to run off their player base with these game updates. With the bar set so low now, the only way to go is up...no?
Their community speaks for itself. I'm sure their moderators are slightly better than the poor product they represent. Tough call though.
