This is absolutely idiotic. People who did nothing wrong are getting banned, and the few people who want to look at the source code in order to find exploits in the game are simply downloading it from another location. The only people being banned are the ones who are just curious.
I was thinking about playing EVE, but not after this. This just proves that the people running the game are total idiots who don't deserve a cent of my money.
That's so sad. The whole concept of Seed seems amazing, too.
Second Life is more of a virtual social network than a game. I'm looking for an online, multiplayer game with a persistent world, without grind or EXP points.
I just found out about a game called Seed, that launched a few years back. From the Wiki entry:
Seed was a MMORPG developed by Runestone Game Development. Aiming for a radically different experience than most other games in the genre, the game focused on character interaction and politics to the extent that combat was entirely removed from the design.
Beta testing started on February 1st, 2006. Open beta testing started on April 25th, 2006. The game was released to the public on May 2nd, 2006.
As of September 28th, 2006, Runestone decided to file a bankruptcy petition to the court of Aarhus, Denmark. A public statement explained that the lack of money was caused by failing to achieve a partnership deal with publishers and MMO companies.
This is exactly the type of thing that I'm looking for. No grind, and possibly no combat, but still an MMORPG. There has to be a game out there like Seed, that didn't fail the same way Seed did, right?
It's not harder to aim in 3rd person. It's harder to a FPS player because they're so used to playing in 1st person. If you take someone who's never played a shooter before, let them try both 1st person and 3rd person, and ask which feels easier to aim with, they'll probably say the latter.
This isn't Battlefield Heroes, though: you'll have the choice of using either, and probably the ability to change views at will.
Are you still playing (or subscribed to) your first MMO?
