Call me crazy, but I really, really like the art direction here. It's reminiscent of Myst, almost. I do hope there's more to this game than, as Ozmodan said, a "glorified chat room." The devs have said there will be quests, didn't they?
Let's look on the bright side. Most of the people complaining seem to play Destruction, and I'd be more than happy if a few Destruction players left; it'd even the odds for we Order players a bit.
In particular, as a healer, I'll ask that a few witch elves unsubscribe. Ah, that'd be nice.

WAR is everywhere but certainly not for everyone. More and more the game seems more geared for the casual players and niche rvr crowd. The hardcores will get bored really fast unfortunately. A nice game but definitely not appealing to the large masses and many thought.
totally true.
The problem is the casual crowd is NOT "really" a niche, it's the majority of the players. I'm afraid.
And that's basically where Mythic's marketing wager is, They hope there's a LOT of casual tards out there to make 'em stinking rich.
Out of curiosity, why does being a casual player make someone a "tard?" Are you implying that people with less time to play video games are fundamentally less intelligent than people with more time? Even when some of those people with less time have less time because they're in college, and busy applying to Ph.D. programs?

Its because the game is an extremely shallow rip off of all the games that came before it. Not a single unique features on its list, not a single innovation. It did extremely well because it was extremely simple and marketed at people who had never played (better/harder) MMOs before. Some people just want a casual game, thats fine, but it created a wave of blathering idiots that thought everything should be like WoW and that it was the Second Coming in game form, when in reality, it is nothing special. Just a well polished game of simplified tried and true methods. And its success caused all other MMOs (save maybe one or two) to copy it directly, and thus we have mass stagnation and dumbing down of the market, resulting in crappy games.
I hear this often, so I'm going to take a moment to respond to this opinion in general. In his most famous critical essay, T. S. Eliot hit the nail on the head when he described new works of literature as new takes on what came before. Eliot was a smart man. Most art works like this; you can't make something out of nothing. WoW being a descendant of the Everquest school doesn't mean it's a ripoff. It's simply the logical next step in a natural process of artistic development. EQ being the popular Western MMO of the time, it's no surprise that Blizzard chose it as a source of inspiration.
WoW is also called "extremely shallow" in the quoted post. I submit that any work of art is only as shallow or as deep as people allow it to be; there's no such thing as inherent depth. If you take the time to invesitage a narrative, it becomes deep for your investigation. If even one person finds depth in WoW, then, by God, there's depth in WoW. And if you feel the urge to argue, at this point, that video games aren't art, then what are you doing here?
Also, I'll ask that you all don't brand me a "fanboi" for two reasons: 1. I don't play WoW (though I used to), and 2. in standard written English, "boy" is spelled with a Y, not an I, so if you have to call me something, call me a "fanboy," if you don't mind. A pretentious literature student I may be, but I'm no mindless fan; I'm too wary of value judgments for that.

Because it's cool to dislike the popular guy.
This would be the reason, as far as I can tell. Well, that, and the most vocal members of this site being convinced, for some reason, that their opinions carry the weight of holy law. Take, for instance, the people whose signatures say things like "Trammies need to stop polluting the MMORPG landscape. They already have enough games in which to emote hugs and sell garbage by the banks." Polluting the MMORPG landscape? It's insane to say such a thing about another human being. And it's not as if such "hardcore" players are the only ones who genuinely look down upon people whose tastes differ from theirs; most everyone here seems to do it. Hell, the only reason I hang out here is to find out what's wrong with every game on the market...and occasionally to run my mouth in threads like this to an audience that couldn't care less about what I have to say, though why I torture myself thus, I'll never know.
