To add to this I'd say that this type of assumption of entitlement becomes a very slippery slope. Once you begin accomodating some "casual gamers" there will always be someone who plays even less demanding the same entitlement. When does it stop, and who sets the limits?
Difficult to give an answer matches such excelent question.
So i try a silly one , the limit is set by the man who spent the most real money.
MMO's originated from roleplaying games where time insvested, knowledge of the lore, dedication set the benchmark . What Smed want is perverting this.
he could just open a casino instead but there he had to face men with money AND with guns. Instead he try to rob little kids.

Well Arc his having 10 years old as customers in his mind when hes talking about micro transactions.
You know the kid with big eyes requesting today that shiny item . Wanna have...wanna have ..
and tomorow has forgotten it already ..(and forgotten quality)
His about to start rob kids...
Its not like the Vets are any more mature.
5+ years and still complaining, you guys should get together and apply for a spot in the Guiness Book, I'm absolutely positive it would get a mention at the very least - because it is most assuredly a record.
I am ok with the first 2 years ;) so 3+ for me...
And yes we need some more attention in form of appreciation as customer. If Guiness Book would help, ok with me.
About maturity , lets hope you will let YOUR kid play $OE games with RMT. harharhar

Nice comparision. Drugs = games. Yes, in many ways.
Not we, Smed has something like that in mind if hes goal is to sell you some pieces stuff on regular basis for your joy.
Our favorite business model is that of an architect , he create and build something wonderful thats so nice and superior that it needs no update and you don't have to see this architect working on that object again because it is flawless and a complete mastepiece from the start.

Smed is the FAIL.
He couldn't pitch heaters to Eskimos at this point with his reputation.
What I'm not sure if he gets is how wrong it was to have two dev chats promising people all kinds of things via profession revamps and expansion features for the old professions, while at the same time planning to delete all of those professions. Does this guy know that lying is a problem, or doesn't he? Does he know that selling people an expansion and subscription time based on false information is crooked as hell, or does he still think he had a right to do that?
Also, does he know how crappy it made people feel to lose everything they worked for over a two year period? Does he understand how attached people were to their pets, their guilds and communities? Does he remember his staff telling people to get married, build friendships, build cities and communities? Does he realize that after people did as they were encouraged, he friggin nuked it all with the NGE bomb?
I hope he gets it, but I haven't seen anything from him that suggests that he does.
Why shouldn't he know ? Affected by that ? no...I am sure Al Capone knowed about his business being immoral too, but the cops receiving checks, the press cash and naysayers ..silenced.
Smed reigns with a bat. ($ONY cash backs him up)
What is your favorite SOE published title?
