    • FFA PvP. What does this mean?

I understand that it's instanced, similar to that of Guildwars, which is totally okay with me. But I am getting mixed message, because I hear alot about FFA PvP, which makes me think it's setup similar to that of WoW.

I'd prefer if it was setup more like WoW, in the way of being able to attack anyone, anywhere, anytime. But then the huge epic Siege Battles would be instanced.

Can someone clarify this for me?

You have things pretty mixed up, i'll try to tell you what I can though.

The instancing is nothing like guild wars, it's more like Anarchy online and everquest2. zones are HUGE and you wont usually notice you are even in a zone as they hold over hundred people. As for server rulesets, they currently have 4 rulesets.

      1. PVE - Pretty much how wow pve servers are. you can't attack anyone unless it's agreed by both people. You are able to talk to and party with anyone no matter their race.

      2. Culture PVP(new server type announced today see other thread for details) -  Closest match to World of Warcrafts PVP ruleset. You'll be in a realm vs realm vs realm scenario, except you'll still be able to talk, group, trade, and even guild up with anyone on the server no matter their race. You will not be allowed to attack your own race, but the other 2 races are FFA.

      3. FFA PVP - This is a free for all server, there are no friends everyone at anytime(except in cities) can be your enemy. There is no safety when it comes to your own race, and you'll hit anyone that is not in your party, including your guild mates.

      I hope this helps :)

Don't get me wrong, It seems like it would be a great addition to the servers. I'm just saying they probably should have catered to the majority of the community first.

Give them time, there is plenty of time to add new rulesets to the already great server types. This should be good news as it shows they are trying different types of rulesets, and expirmenting.

There is no logic in all this. A war PvP scenario with temporary sides would work nice like this however but permanent? I can swallow EQ2s sides with good and evil (even though evil should be able to backstabb eachother) but there is no logic in why 2 evil stygians magicians shouldnt be able to fight over resources.

Still since this seems to be an option when you choose server it's not that big off a deal.

It has less to do with story and more to do with appealing to casual pvpers who do not wish to play on a pure PVE realm.  The difference between PVE and FFA PVP rulesets are extreme, to say the least. This is a great alternative for people who wish to have an actual side to fight for.
