Pretty much sums it up, this game is not for the gutless wonders. It has a severe learning curve, but you can be very competitive in less than a month in pvp if you specialize.
Let's face it, you can lose a fortune in one ship loss and podding. You have to be willing to take risks in this game and play intelligently. It is also detrimental to soloers, the more friends you have the better your chances.
Like I said, most definitely not for everyone, but boring it is not.
Seems to a pretty good chance this will never make it to release, seems a bit premature to get excited about a game you most probably will never play.
Typical instant gratification type playing a game that was not designed with him in mind.
Say what you will, if you were bored in Eve, you were not playing it, you were just too chicken to take any chances to have any fun.
Nothing wrong with being a coward, we all experience moments like that, just that don't come here and bash Eve because you got a terrible case of jelly guts.
Eve is not for everyone, it takes some intelligence to play the game, willingness to take chances and the time to learn it.
"Ehmm seriously tho, but if you think a joystick is going to wear off RPGE-peen players, then you are seriously mistaken. It will be even the other way around. Easymode game play with a joystick is by far more appealing then the complex sandbox approach EVE On line has."
It won't attract much of the MMO crowd, look at all the examples of dumbed down games failing in this genre. That is exactly what players don't want. This will be strictly a niche game, just like the original was.
What happens with games of this type of game is players don't play the game very long, and the developer has to constantly recycle the player base to keep the numbers up. High turnover is an anathema to any MMO developer.
"Darkfall server tech is more advanced than Eve in this respect, because DF can do dynamic resizing of zone sizes, as well as being distributed over a multi-PC server cluster"
Sorry, but Eve server technology is so far advanced over anything Adventurine can afford it is not even close and no one even knows what Adventurine is going to use yet. It is just obvious that they won't have the funds to invest in top end server technology like Eve uses.
As to storage, Eve uses Ramsam storage for all databases, I don't know of another MMO that has invested anything close to what CCP has invested in their server farm.
Here is a blurg on Ramsam: http://www.superssd.com/products/ramsan-400/
So you can question all you want, large battles in DF or any MMO will still continue to be lag fests until the hardware catches up.
As to DAoC sure we had large battles there and they were lag fests just like everyone else experiences.
What characteristics of an MMORPG do you look at most?
