Not to go off topic but Malekith is the son of Aenarion the Defender the first Phoenix King. Aenerion unfortunately had to save the World from Chaos as the Slann gates had collapsed and demonkind were swarming the world and in the war that took place his wife and two kids were murdered he swore vengeance on chaos, with that he drew the Sword of Khaine - an immensley evil sword which when carried by someone so powerful and so good made him unstoppable... however it was cursed and corrupted his soul with chaos. Ultimately if you read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Elves_(Warhammer) you will see that the Dark Elves are a result of Aenarion the Defender bedding Morathi (Later to be a bit of a Hag) and spawned Malekith who due to the fact that the Sword of Khaine was cursed and just a tad evil meant that they were corrupt to the core. In saving the world and quietining the WInds of Chaos, Ulthuan and the world was saved but evil had corrupted the line of the High Elves and the Dark Elves were created. etc etc.
So ... according to lore Malekith does not represent Elvin kind, because right at the end Aenerion gave his life after choosing to save all elf kind in stopping the Winds of Magic thus choosing not to follow chaos.
Open to interperation but read the wiki and read what I mean and its a good story. Yes I was High Elves on TT but going Chaos Chosen in game.
Erm... no.
I find your lack of vision disturbing... as all I hear are exscuses.
Apply "Devs promised" to most of the things you said and then replace promise with "Lie" and thats where the NGE is now.
History is a great teacher. 5 years later and people are still blaming the guy before for why "its not my fault!!". For eg. Ralph Koster didnt include Milk Bottles in the game!! WHY as they werent needed at the time of creation/design but 5 years later im sure as hell convinced that if they were in game at the start they would now be broken in game and/or a 246 month Vet award or looted of a meatlump. If you missed the point then as previously pointed out for 1 example jumping wasnt designed to be in the game... so to just include it with no thought/designing/planning is open to ridicule and judgment.
If your making exscuses for WHY it cannot happen then the game has reached its ceiling of "growth", and that apparantly happened many years ago.
Because to have capitol ship featured in game you would need to create a larger space environment which implies more resources (server etc), deep space zones etc (EVE does it quite nicely) what you describe is a "Cant do it" approach. Fab! hence why the game is not growing. As I said at the start ...I find your lack of vision disturbing...
A New Hope as done by SOE
**Klaxons blare away**
[RandomDev answers the intercom]
RandomDev: [sounding official] Uh, everything's under control. Situation normal.
Paying Customer: What happened?
RandomDev:[getting nervous] Uh, we had a slight Server malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
Paying Customer: Where can I get my money back, in fact where can I get my game back!!.
RandomDev: Uh, uh... negative, negative. We had a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, very dangerous.... just keep paying and subscribing
Paying Customer: Who is this? What's your operating number?
RandomDev: Uh...
[RandomDev shoots the intercom]
RandomDev: [muttering] Boring conversation, anyway.

I think there's some slight delusion going around if it's expected that a Star Wars game should be the biggest. Even in the Movie world, the original "home" of Star Wars, it's not at the top of the list (according to Wikipedia).
Just to hammer the point home, speak to pretty much above 90% of the worlds population and they will have heard of Star Wars.... speak to the same amount and say World of Warcraft and I will honestly say they will not of heard of it. Biggest no... but big at the very least.
Please dont be silly and say that Star Wars " it's not at the top of the list for movies" and think that justifies a platter of points thats just closing your eyes and putting your hands over your ears and shouting "lalalalalala". People watch, play, read, live Star Wars in there everyday life its massive. fullstop
So just to cover the point again, Massive IP being battered with low pop servers... how as a company providing a service do you the golden goose that lays golden eggs and get that wrong. History speaks volumes and time will tell and is telling....
Yep... still angry but its been a blast watching them cling on with all their will and to hammer the NGE down everyones throats and fail.
Shame on you

If a few McDonald's customers cried that the fries did not have enough salt, and so the company adds more salt making them inedible, it would be McDonald's fault?
To an extant, yes, because they caved to the wishes of a few. But it is also the fault of the few that whined about it.
Remember the oldest company motto . . . The customer is always right.
SOE listened to the vocal customers . . . the problem is that the majority liked the damn game. They were too busy playing to be saying anything on the forums.
Sorry disagree here. Just to bring this point in line for what people wanted. Professions balanced and content in game.
To make the same comparison using MacDonalds, out of all its 'restaurants' MacDonalds would of had a very small amount of restaurants had trials with varoius "reduced" salt and "increased" salt fries to test over a period of TIME on the limited customers before making a decision THEN the food standards agency would take a look at the best fries and for eg. if it were increased salt that won then they would check to see if it were to be HARMFUL to the customer base and if it was totally wrong would not be fed/cooked/released to the populace and MacDonalds would try again to fid the ANSWER and the rest of the population of Macdonald customers would have no idea what was going on (to a point) .
What you describe is HOW SOE did this wrong and WHY it failed as MacDonald's would never be disrespectful openly on such a large scale as it would be a PR disaster. WHOLESALE release of SALTY fries on a entire customer base IS wrong. THIS is why there is Vet Refuge........ they didnt just end up here like flotsam.
The trick with customers being always right, is that customers think they know what is right yet....We are all customers and we are all right??? get real.
