    • Before I start I would like to pint out that these are MY first IMPRESSIONS of Tantra Global.

      Where to begin.

      1) MOBS are once again exp bags with no other purpose other than to stand where they spawn with big neon signs above their heads saying 'HIT ME FOR EXP.'

      3) Three factions determined by the deity you decide to follow with associated war/pvp.  Lost count of how many games have something similar (yawn).

      4) Basically, the usual four classes. The tank, the archer, the monk (for want of a better description,) and the spell chucker.  Again, lost count of all the other games with something similar.

      5) Lots of go to x location and kill y number of MOBS missions.  Nuff said!!!

      6)  Nice big towns and other population centres with feck all npc's.  I hate it when you get well sculpted cities etc with nobody living in them.

      7)  Day and night exist but there is no weather.  I am finding this to be a major cop out  with game devs these days.

      8)  The town/city buildings are nothing more than scenery.  You cant enter them and as far as I can tell you will never be able to own them.  Again, another dev cop out  becoming quite common these days.

I wont comment on the graphics, which I found to be ok as I think this will always be down to personal taste.

Personally didn't find any problem with character control, but again, this will, I think,  come down to personal preference.

Lag..... didn't have any.  Cant say much more than that.

The other problems I found with it I have put down to it being OB, but I would advise going to the forums to find out where the creatures are for missions.  There is not much in the way of quest flavour to give adequate direction to where they are.

Suggestions for character builds arent there on the forums to any great degree yet so If your into exploring class potentials, there is plenty of scope and demand for exploration and description.

In summary, the only difference between this game and a hoard of others out there is the graphics and the community which in Tantras case hasn't really developed yet.  Tantra is just another 'grind till your bored' game for obsessive compulsives.

In short, try it and make up your own mind.  If you dont like it there are hundreds of others that are identical to choose from.

    • metin 2 us version and metin 2 gameforge version?
    • As far as I can tell, the differences between the two versions come down to the fact that the American version gets more updates and is ahead of the Gameforge version in content.

I personally used to play on the UK servers but gave up due to the cack community and the mind numbing grind.  Cant speak for the US servers as I never played there.

I used to log on then spend  ages trying to level while being constantly spammed with,

"Esti Ro?", "Ro?", "Yang plz.", "Lvl?", "Noob." , "F*&k off this is my map or I will kill you noob!",  Player A. Hole challenges you to a duel, Player A. Hole invites you to join a group (spammed repeatedly, normally when you are in the middle of a fight so the message box obscures what you are doing.)

Kill stealing, spawn humping and guild griefing are rife especially if your character is of a low level.

By all means play it and find out for yourself.  I would recommend the US version though if only because it gets the better updates earlier.

    • I don't get it.

It's called an independent developer. Not everyone can afford several hundred thousand dollar game engines. I can't say anything for the mechanics or gameplay, but graphics should NEVER be your deciding point for a game.

It's insulting to see so many people that are that stupid to continuously complain about graphics. As an independent developer myself, I know what creating a game is like. It's not as easy as your job, sitting on your ass playing the games all day.

Try and make a game yourself. Please. I'd love you to enlighten us with your amazing talent as a game designer. You obviously know what makes a good game.

Hmmm.......interesting.  I would point out that at their core,

      A) All games have similar mechanics with only minute variations.

      B)  All games involve endless grinding to level up.

      C) The main purpose of 99.999% of games is having to grind to be a higher level than the person next to you so you can stomp them in PVP.

      D) All games having no other goal other than leveling when it comes down to it.

So the only differences between the hundreds of grindfests out there that occur to me are the communities involved and, as much as you hate the idea, the graphics.  So yes graphics are important.

The only difference when it comes down to it between Last Chaos and Metin 2 are the graphics and the people who play.  Both involve sh*t loads of grinding.  Both have no other goal other than leveling as far as I could see.  Both required spending RL cash to get that little bit further than the people who didnt spend.

The MMORPG market is stagnant with endless copies/variations on what has gone before with only the graphics and players to differentiate between them.

If you are actually an independent developer in this genre then please break the mould.  Smash it, grind it to dust, because personally I am getting sick and tired of the same old grind for no purpose sh*te that is out there at the moment.

    • Same old, same old?
    • Strange really.  I thought the OP was exressing his/her opinion not writing a review.  Despite the fact the OP doesnt use the word 'review' or states 'here is my review' I could be wrong.

    • Update:

I tried.  I really did.  All that happened was that I fell asleep and drooled all over my keyboard.

There is absolutely nothing about this game apart from the mechanics to keep a player interested.

The world has no character or atmosphere and the character models look naff.  At no point while starting out was I interested in the person I was playing and there was nothing in game to change this.  Add to that the incessant grinding that to my mind is a pandemic that has infected all these games, nothing ingame that is in any way innovative and no community to speak of, Chaos Online to me personally is a fail.

      Duly deleted.  Player moving on.
