    • How do you tell if your computer is upgradable?
    • The name kinda says it all. =P I want to upgrade my graphics card and add some RAM. How do I tell if it is possible to upgrade the computer, and will certain cards and RAM sticks not be compatible with certain computers? If anybody can tell me how I am supposed to tell, that would be great. If you can't explain, and simply want to say whether or not mine is upgradable, I can post my DxDiag. However, for future and present knowledge, I would prefer to learn how to recognize whether a computer is upgradable or not.

    • World of Warcraft: New Patch Announced: Fury of the Sunwell
    • I like how that SonOfSeth kid pretends to be experienced. He said he has played for four years, and the game has only been out a little over three years, if even that. And level 80s, lol. Typo or stupidity?

I started WoW in September of 2005, and quit in September of 2007. I have seen most of the progress WoW has made, I have been kept up to date on recent patches by friends printing off the release notes and bringing them to me for some odd reason...Anyways, I agree that since Burning Crusade came out, the game has felt old and recycled to me. Raiding before BC was easy and fun, and I liked how we could clear MC and hardly talk about it. Instead, we could talk about beating children, or how the fire-kitty stepped on me, or how I wiped the entire raid by pulling agro off the tank on Golemagg the Incinerator, and he stepped on everyone. We didn't need to discuss strategies every 2 minutes like with Karazhan or these newer raids, we wern't forced to keep our mind 100% on the raid. We could have fun with the people we were raiding with, and I miss those days. Blizzard tryed to pull us in and make raids more exciting...they took away my favorite part of the raids! 40 people in a ventrilo channel laughing and talking about nonsense. Now, them taking away the socializing would be alright if at the very least, the places we saw got our interest! Ragnaros bursting from the lava and *****slapping Majordomo Executus was frightening and hilarious! When I got summoned to replace someone in Zul'Gurub, and the first thing I see is a huge snake covered in fangs, I almost jumped! Those brought atmosphere and a feeling of discovery. What do we have now? Recycled skins (Murmur is like a boring version of Ragnaros), the same dungeon skins (Gruul's Lair looks like Molten Core without the lava and fire), and really, I stopped feeling the intensity of raiding. The best I felt was in Karazhan, when we cleared most of it out, it was cool at first to see where this Medivh guy lived. Maybe I just became numb to it all...but I think that before, it was magnificent! Molten Core's chamber for Ragnaros was humongous! The ceiling was so high up...Karazhan sticks you in cramped rooms with dusty books. It has an atmosphere, but not one that brings a large sense of discovery when you can't even read the books of the greatest Mage of all Warcraft time.

Maybe it is just an oldtimer's thing, but I feel that the raids they are making, they are simply making for the hardcore raiders, and they are pumping them out to fast instead of taking their time to make a raid that us achievers and explorers can have fun with.

Age of Conan looks like it will have tons of exploration and I may be able to get the feelings I had when WoW was new to me, but I am not sure if my computer is upgradable. Need a new graphics card and more RAM to play AoC.

    • Installation Issues?
    • To the first reply, I have no idea about bits or whatever. That is why I included the DxDiag. As for the disc version, uhh...pretty damn old? We have two sets of discs from back in August 2005.

To the second reply. I will try that if all else fails.

To the third reply. I have another set of discs, I will try those, however my little brother used them to install WoW on his computer and he says it does not work. Then again, he knows next to nothing about how to work a computer, so I probably shouldn't trust his results. I have WoW on another computer connected to my wireless router, maybe I can open the filesharing thing for both of them and put the WoW files in the Public folder and copy them out on the computer I am on...I will try that, thank you.

Also pappy, the thing does not just stop. It freezes and/or crashes my system. I can hardly do a thing while the install is going on, so it must be taking alot of the CPU or whatever does the tasks.

Gosh, wish I could just play Age of Conan...if this stuff doesn't work, I need to find out if my computer is upgradable so I can buy the stuff I need for that.

    • WoW Lore
    • I do miss preBC. Raiding was so different back then...It was fun and not very challenging, and we could actually have fun doing it...

Raid Leader: Ok, tank 1 get the giant on the right, tanks 2 and 3 the guy on the left. Hunters, wait five seconds before turning autoshot on so you don't wipe the entire raid again, *COUGH* Arkiranger! *COUGH* brb, need to beat my child again.

That was some pretty mild stuff people used to say over ventrilo. Anything more, and my post would be deleted for content. Anyways, we used to have fun with it, ya know? Then BC comes along, raiding becomes a job...as a hunter (I was Arkiranger, in case you couldn't tell), I could no longer hit autoshot and have the third highest DPS in the raid wearing my greens and blues like I did in Molten Core. Now I had to compete to do more DPS, and I had actual jobs! (Moroes fight, DPS minibosses while freeze trapping the shadow priest, and occasionally also had to pet kite the prot warrior)

The skins I don't really MIND, I slightly agree with you, but I don't mind it that much. Replacing my epics with greens only hurt me for one reason. I had only recently gotten into raiding, and had all blues and epics except for one slot...one green left to replace! I could almost call myself a raider, just had to replace one item and I was there! Then, my Giantstalker's and my auctionhouse bought blues were replaced with the first greens of Hellfire Peninsula. Not a big deal, an upgrade is an upgrade, but it still hurt to not get rid of that last green.

The Blood Elf Paladin had its own lore, hell it wasn't even a Paladin. A Blood Knight is the lore, and I think the skills and such should have reflected that. Different armor skins, animations, and spellnames and icons would have been enough for me. Give them the same things, and just make it look different, and it could have given it a totally different feel.

I quit WoW in September, and may be coming back soon. Planning to reroll onto another server, and switch to Alliance, so hope all these changes aren't to much for me.

    • WotLK (Poll)
    • Have not played WoW since September, so excuse me if I have the wrong emote but...

/cheer for the poster above me? You can accomplish a lot and still maintain a life outside the game.

PS, just as a note. This kinda seems to have gotten off topic in my opinion. The topic, I believe, was 'How hyped are you about WotLK, and do you plan to buy it? If so, how soon?'. Not 'How evil is Blizzard replacing my epics with greens and giving me new hair?'.
