I think that a big part of why most people get tired of "GROUPING" in most MMO's is when they have to wait for a "HEALER .. or TANK" in order to do the dungeons or group part of MMO's in the first place. It can get very frustrating when you have a group ready to go but cant get that healer or tank u need ..
War has went over 800K in subscribers .. so where are they all coming from ? (not saying they are coming from WOW) but the point is this.... they are still doing well, growing etc .. so who cares who goes back to WOW or another game, many are playing more than one game also.
War will surive as will WOW, LOTR and many others .. saying that 70% or any other % for that matter have gone back to a game doesn't really tell you anything. Doesnt tell you if they are still playing WAR or not. So as long as WAR is growing in population who cares who goes back to another game ?
thanks, didnt know that, so in this sence, would that make it more feasible to do, since it wouldnt take different servers for the different players using different graphics ?
How hard would it be, or maybe it wouldnt be cost efficient , but the idea is, that companies could make a game and sell 2 different coppies, if you buy (copy A) then you play on these servers with low end graphics, if you buy (copy B) then you play on these servers with the higher end graphics. This would allow for just about everyone who wants to play to have a chance to play .. and no one can get mad that they waisted their money because their machine cant handle the game etc.
just a thought, if it ment millions more play your game, would it not be feasible ?
The graphics are not new other than the pictures, the graphics are the same "GRADE" as those found in WOW, WAR, LOTR, and many others being created ... STARGATE ETC ..
they are LOW graphics made so that they can get as many people to play the game as possible, this is where i give AOC congratulations on not thinking about the ole mighty dollar and doing the same so they could have gotten many more people to subscribe, but instead making a game with GREAT graphics and letting those of us who are tired of the watered down looking pics to play a game that looks awesome !
Im spoiled now i guess, but ive upgraded 3 machines for family and myself so that we could play AOC and other games that may come along with great graphics because to me its not too much to spend on a computer if u love to play the games and part of it is how the game looks . and dispite what most may think, it only cost me $400 to upgrade each computer.
I was interested in the game but the graphics will keep me from playing it now im sure ... since AOC i just have a hard time now playing games that look CLUNKY, with graphics that are not very colorful or realistic looking. Most characters look like they have their armor painted on them, it just doesnt look good to me anymore.
im in no way KNOCKING people who like the low graphic games because they play better on their machines, not everyone can or wants to upgrade so they can play higher graphic games but for me i like them better now. But no matter how good your graphics are, the games still need smoothness of animation and a purpose, not just a grind fest to a level 60. Most of all, something to do that isnt boring for an end game . just MHO
