Yeah I did just that last year. I needed something that would run on a low spec machine and this did fine, ended up playing for over 6 months.

Got one character up to lvl 180 something but I don't use the item mall and it became a bit of a chore. The grind does get interrupted as theres a "Secret Dungeon" you can do twice a day and at certain levels you can really cash in on these. Unfortunatly a few of them arent worth doing and finding a party sometimes takes a while. Still the ones worth doing are worth doing well.

Guild and Point wars were good fun, but overcrowded areas and kill stealers were less fun.  Without the xp orb you'll get left behind compared to those who bought 'em, but it did mean there were always high rollers on my friends list to squash the kill stealers.

I'm going to play fallout 2 now. I love that game, and its 2d graphics.

    • What makes DC Universe any better then CoH or CoV?
    • One thing DCU could have over CoX is the ability to enter a building. Maybe its just me but its a little dissapointing being told I cant open a door when an avatar has the potential to reduce it to ash. Most of my favourite rpg's have had the abitlity to wander around rifling through peoples drawers and cupboards.

    • Child security and privacy in HKO - FYI
    • Its English slang thats decades old. I haven't seen any of that show "To Catch A Predator". It can be spelt with either an S or a C

Grooming is a more recent one. I only learnt it through reading endless media hype about the latest epidemic "cyber abuse" and what a serious and growing problem it apparently is. A recent NSPCC survey that was shoved in our faces found that more than 50% of young people have suffered an "unwanted experience" - including sexual abuse and bullying - when using social networking sites. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection (Ceop) Centre, the government law enforcement agency devoted to online child protection, says it receives up to 500 incident reports a month, and around half are linked to grooming. It estimates that some one in four young people arrange to meet somebody in the real world who they originally met online, compared with around one in 12 children four years ago.

Like the OP states many steps have been taken to ensure "Hello Kiddy" (as its been dubbed over here) is a safe and fun enviroment for our kids. I was curious if any deliberate software was in place to identify these creeps and eliminate them from cyberspace.

Either way I'm sure my 8 year old niece will be telling and showing me all about Hello Kitty when the time comes. While her slightly older brother mocks me for taking an interest no doubt.

Edit: I'll also wager it's community is a lot maturer than some of the ones I've encountered.
