Just got mine patched up today..
Got mine the day I paid for the preorder.. but then again I don't order games online, I actually went to the store and they handed me something that had all my codes on it. This is one of the reasons I don't pre-order games online, I'd rather have the codes in hand than wait for them to hopefully get emailed to me in time.
Just signed on with these guys, and so far they are horri.. err sorry I mean they are amazing! Nah, seriously they seem like a good bunch of guys (and 1 girl), should atleast check out the site if you're looking for a WAR guilid.

I don't consider instancing a bad thing, if done moderately. For example, WoW only uses instances for the portion of the dungeon that posesses the big boss. I can agree with this use, because fighting over spawns and spawn camping can be annoying.
I used to think instancing a dungeon was a horrible thing, but then I came for EQ1 where there were zones, but everyone was in the same one, not their own personal instance. After playing many of the newer MMO's I have kinda changed my opinion and think instancing is ok, if done on a limited basis.
I love the feel of Vanguard's open world, and open dungeons. It makes me think back to how I wish EQ1 was, the zoning was something I didn't care for. I think they could use a small amount of instanced encounters, but not completely instanced dungeons.
Now to the person I quoted, I think you are slightly mistaken, WoW does not just instance the portion of the dungeon that posessed the "big boss", they instance the "whole" dungeon for the group. But I like your way of thinking, if they could devise a way to let people have the openess of Vanguards dungeons and the instanced encounters for the "big boss" at the end, I think it'd be a perfect match. As always it's just my opinion, so feel free to disagree.

Companies are good until they release one bad MMO.
Blizzard has what WOW and was based off one of their besting selling RTS? They have another MMO planned so hopefully be just as good as WOW even though i never got into WOW its still a good game.
Mythic has DAOC which really wasn't as popular as I would hope was still good. RVR does own. WAR will hopefully be more popular and RVR funner.
SOE had Everquest and people loved it. They release SWG which sucked people lose faith. Microsoft droppped Vangaurd after rushing it and SOE picked it up and wasn't that good at launch. Everquest 2 was actually ok game. People just love to hate SOE but if SOE ever makes another really awesome MMO people will break down and buy it. Any other MMOS SOE released i never tried.
NC Soft spits out more MMOs than SOE. SOme could be good I don't really know only play COH?COV really from them. It was ok.
Bioware has a MMO coming out too not much info at all so don't really know if it even looks good. They make good RPGS so we can hope.
Blizzards next MMO and Biowares MMO are the 2 MMOs after WAR that really interest me. No other MMOS in 2008 really interest me besides WAR.
Sony did not develop Everquest. Verant developed and ran the Everquest MMO until Sony bought Verant.Anyone?
