I think it goes with out saying that a game set in the Old Republic will include both Jedi and Sith right away. There is no lore-based justification for grinding a character to becoming a Jedi - it makes absolutely no sense in terms of the univerise, especially in the sense of how Jedi originate. The challenge, I think, is not to make playing a Jedi difficult to attain, but rather to make the other professions just as interesting and compelling to play....

Dear OP,
You should have included the fact that we don't even know if it is an MMO, only that it has MMO elements :P
We don't even know that we don't know that. ![]()

Just a little public service announcement.
Before you consider creating another thread about what KOTOR is or isn't going to be, please consider that YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING ABOUT THE GAME. No one does, except the people involved in developing it. Your speculation, your Star Wars Galaxies fuiled angst, your pretentious World of Warcraft fuiled cynicism, and MMORPG.com snobbishness do not give you a shred of credability. No one cares how you soil your pillow at night with salty tears of longing for your precious darling pre-cu Galaxies. Least of all Bioware.
This concludes our public service announcement.
You might get flamed, but I see the point your trying to make.
Some people like to think they know what the game is going to turn out like, creating fanboy-ism and haters of the game and other such garbage. Basically no one can honestly say they know anything about how the games going to turn out till bioware graces us with such knowledge, so till then are OP is asking us to plz stfu ;)
Exactly.
Until we are given solid information through credible sources, everything we have to say about the game itself (aside from the pseudo-announcement ) is pure speculation. Opinion. And misguided opinion at that... This kind of premature, fanboy driven, fill-in-the-blanks bickering over a game we know nihil about is only going to feed conflict and eventually create a lot of disappointment when the reality doesn't match people's wet dreams.
An open game world.
Or at least a fully realized and expansive public play space supplemented with closed play spaces.
Basically, when I go to a planet, I want some kind of sense of freedom that I can go where I want, do what I want for the people I want, and generally become part of a living, breathing world on my own terms. Bioware did great things with linear story-telling and I respect that, but if they're going to open things up to an MMO sized audience, I would expect a greater degree of freedom that the original KOTOR games offered.
If they can nail that, I'd be happy. Everything else (progression, combat, crafting/property, etc) is negotiable.
