    Excellent, leveling with pvp?  from what i read it seemed that they were seperate circles? or levels ? guess i got that wrong, so you can strictly gain your progression in War through the use of PvP?

    Or does the game cut your legs off by making questing a need for gear or what have you to stay competitive in pvp?

    You can lvl entirely through PvP if you wish; there are even PvP based quests!

• • LoTRO vs. WAR vs. AoC

  • So turbine is selling lifetime memberships to LoTRO again and I am considering getting one.  LoTRO is  a fun game to RP in and has a very good community (right now) and I enjoy playing it.

    My concern is that in a few months, with AoC coming out very soon and WAR a few months down the line, LoTRO is going to be a ghost town.  No matter how good a game is, when the servers empty it just isn't fun anymore (DAoC) and this will be especialy true with LoTRO since it is the community that makes it worth playing at end game.

    I would much rather the game play be moved forward BEFORE the graphics. The truth here is, all you are getting is a reskin of 'the same ol same ol' instead of something new and beautiful. IT sounds to me like you would find more entertainment from the pure art industry. That industry is founded around 'new' and 'pretty'. Gaming markets are based around gameplay and the entertainment therein. Instead, because of people like YOU, these smacktard developers have been wasting YEARS of progressive development time focusing on pretty instead of advancing the actual gameplay.
    So, the REAL fans of this market are suffering because you art nuts only care about how nicely the boobies look on screen. This and this alone is the entire reason the console market has had the success it has. The hardware is limited graphically, so the teams working on those games have to put more stock in gameplay to win over its audience. Thanks, you've ruined my gaming medium. I suppose I'll just have to move to the xbox like everyone else that wants a decent game to play and leave the PC gaming to people like YOU who only wanna see something with bloom.

    Wow, I musta touched a nerve! Heh heh thanks, that actually made me laugh out loud... imagining myself with a beret and monocle poring lovingly over the shiny pixels on my screen while toking off a gigantic opium pipe.
    I guess if I were equally perverse I'd tell you that 99% of console games are likewise still the same old shit, that they too are trying to push the bleeding edge of graphics just like everyone else with the release of a new chassis every few years, and that if you're such a 'gameplay purist' perhaps you should go find a friend and play some chess and leave these futuristic pastimes to the rest of us.

    Clearly you haven't heard of the Wii; look it up. Right now it is blowing away consoles that thought they could repackage the same old crap with new graphics (PS3) and prooving that inovative game play wins every time.

    hahha you really think so??? ok well lets see... Wii has what? the new super smash bros game right... ps3 and 360 have recently got GTA IV which has broken every single selling record in gaming history (yes...it beat halo 3 BY FAR) in its first day. funny thing is over 80% of the sales were for the 360 version AND on top of that. more people play Xbox Live than either of the other 2 consoles online. Sure Wii has done some original things, but instead of sounding like a Wii fanboy at least get your facts straight. That console will never EVER come close to what the other 2 are today.

    I really shouldn't take the troll bait, but oh well...

     

    Looking at just 1 game's sale numbers and trying to make any statement about the underlying console is wrong.  Look at the console sales numbers, Wii is outselling both of the other systems by wide margins.  Just as very few people are going to buy a brand new computer for a single game, very few people are going to buy a console for a single game.

    As for XBOX live:  The majority of console players (based on the numbers buying non-networked games vs. networked games) use their consoles for standalone gaming.  Trying to derive a consoles success from its online use is again missing the big picture that the Wii console is out selling the other consoles even without a top of the line network.
