Battlekruse, may I ask you in which company you work? Is your company listed in the stock exchange market?
As every observant person may see for himself the majority of companies listed on the stock exchange look similar like the chart you posted above.
But as I can see on mmorpg you obviously like posting stock exchange charts of game companies without providing an educated background of the reason why the charts look like they do. But perhaps you do not have one and you just like to produce negative press on the forums here.
So I kindly ask you to stfu and stop posting this nonsense unless you can bring us evidence to your claims.
This kind of survey was also done in the Beta phases of AoC and it was done by the same company as far as I can remember. Actually all that this company does, is allowing their system to be used by other companies to conduct surveys. This kind of service is provided by a lot of companies and, as an example, the company where I work has used this kind of service for worldwide surveys and its detailed analysis because for us it whould have been to work intensive and complicated to organize it.
That being said I cannot really see a connection between those surveys and the general health of the company behind AoC. At least not in this specific matter.
As a matter of fact I think it is a positive thing that a company tries to get an understanding about what specific features people like and which parts of the game are not popular. If you want to know what players think about your game you go out and ask them directly. It is the best feedback you can get. Getting an opinion from a forum will not give you a representative result because only a fraction of the playerbase will use the forum frequently enough, if at all.
Cheers

It stands to reason the community (in game at least) is improving as all the subscribers who were disappointed move on, leaving the fans who are ever-so forgiving. So you'll be playing with people who share your point of view once FC has managed to cull the players who won't pay for what they see as a bad game. It makes perfect sense, I don't argue your perception has not improved, just that it may not be a good thing.
But isn't this the normal way every community functions for a game? First a whole bunch of people is trying out the game. Then comes the selection process where each player decides if the game suits him or not. He can see the general direction the game goes and he should be able to see which feature could get tweaked and which feature is here to stay. After a few months you are left with those players that agree with the general idea of the game. Call them fanboys or whatever, but they are the core of a game community. They will be loud and vocal when it comes to changes in the game. But in general they agree with the core philosphy. of it. Over time the community will grow again (if the game is good enough) and new people will join the community, as well as there will always be the ones that will leave the game due to a number of reasons.
At least I've never seen it any different with any game I've played so far: First you have a huge number of people playing, then the population will shrink quite a bit and then it will either stay like it is or, most probably, it will rise again for some time until the lifecycle of the game is more or less over. Then you will see a steady decline of players until the big doomsday.
For the record: The worst MMO launch in history would have to be Ultima Online, closely followed by World War II Online. This being said, it did not prevent me to play those two games for quite some time. Once the initial launch problems were solved both games really started to shine (I know WW2OL was and still is very niche but it was a helluvalot of fun playing it).
Considering the launches I've seen so far over the past 10 years the ones from Vanguard and from AoC were certainly not the best ones but they were not worse than the big majority of the other MMO releases in the past few years (including WoW, which really was quite a nightmare for me to play it in the first 2-3 months).
What I want to say: So far I haven't really seen a good launch in any MMO I've played so far, with LotRO being the only exception. They really had a very nice launch compared to the competition. It is just too bad that the game itself does not suit my tastes at all.
And as an addendum: My prediction is that neither WAR nor any other MMO coming out this or next year will have a smooth launch as well. At least not according to the things I hear and read throughout the interwebs. But you may hang me up on this prediction in a year or two, in case I was utterly wrong :)
What aspect of MMORPG's are you more into?
