    • If only this game could get 1/4 of WoW population

Bingo!  The best post in this thread.

As far as I'm concerned, the game has a healthy population.  I have yet to have problems grouping, my small guild is still very active after almost a year and a half, and I'm incredibly pleased with the way Turbine is updating the game.

Not everyone will like LOTRO, just like not everyone likes AoC, EQ2 or GW.   It's a matter of opinion.

I can no longer play, i can't log in, and the 2 times i have been able to log in i get rubber banding anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes long. So basically unplayable since Book 14s release.

So today after my 21st attempt at playing the game i am paying for,  i decide to go to the forums on there main site. Slow...  not slow like alot of traffic slow... but slow like DNS attack slow. (not that i think this is what is happening). After about 10 minutes of reloading attempts i finally get into the general game play page. I post asking if this was a common thing after patch release, get 3 replies, and then i cannot refresh or reply to anything.

So now the forums on there main site are basically down. So not intending to flame Turbine but this really feels like i went back to AoC.

Edit: also the complete silence from the developers (just like Funcom) is DEAFENING.

I agree with some of the others... you need to go back to AoC.

To even TRY to compare Turbine with Failcom is insane.  If you know as much about MMO's as you claim to know, you're well aware of the incredible polish LOTRO had at launch and has been for the most part bug free since.

To have some problems occur this week with the release of an update which is NOT t ypical of Turbine, yet to compare them with one of the worst MMO companies around is just trying to stir up trouble.

    • 1. AoC- needs another year in the oven.  Shame on FunCom for releasing a game with a lack of content, bugs and not having in the game what was promised to be!

      2. WoW- hated the graphics and the community.

      3. EQ2- good game, but with SoE's attitude and customer service... it ruins it.

      4. Hellgate:London- Flagship should be ashamed of the way they released and maintained it.

      5. SWG (post CU)- another game that started out great and was ruined by SoE.

    • How many are leaving for WAR?

In my opinion a great pvp with pve mix is the only way a game can compete in the big leagues. This means compete on the scale of WoW.

Is pvp issential for wide and mass appeal in the current MMO market. Mass appeal = more $$$$

I totally disagree with this post.  LOTRO is not a PvP game, nor does it need anything more than MP, which is enough for me.

Slowing down?  I don't see that anywhere.  Content is added at an amazing rate and the playerbase is pretty constant if not rising (at least on my server).

While PvP can be fun, it certainly isn't the deciding factor on whether a game will be successful or not.

    • Why no real PvP in this game?

Therefor the statement that LoTRO has no PvP is false.

You want ganking, unbalanced classes, exploits and constant nerfs feel free to go play AoC. It has plenty of those to go around.

Something about this post screams scared of PvP

The OP asked "Real" PvP, you know with consequences...

Lotro fails for me there. PvE can be fun at times but PvP as in Player Vs Player is a joke for me, its not even fun.

      It's plenty fun for me...

      and it works too! ;)
