Max is just upset because he can't figure out the battle system.
if you want to avoid the grind, do a dungeon. With a leader who has party quests. If you do it with a leader that doesn't have party quests, you'll take twice as long to get rich and lots of experience. Party quests are largely ignored by the majority of players, because they don't know how useful they are. They seriously remove the grind.
I'm from Mari. And I think the playerbase is just as mature as any other server, the problem is the flood of MapleStory players. But if you look around you can find mature players as well.
If you want help to kill the little golem [which spawns in Ciar beginner as the boss]
Use icebolt or smash to start the battle. Then defend and walk away constantly while you are defending. He will eventually come after you with a normal attack. Hit him back after this with your combo, then defend and walk away again. Do this until he grows. When he grows, just rush at him with your normal attack and keep that up constantly. I use a two hander, which is slow..at most he hits me twice at this stage. usually only once. I have killed him with this exact method, with a BROKEN bast-ard sword.
I notice a lot of people saying that if you lag, you die..Not quite true. I sometimes lag HORRIBLY because of my connection. If you know what you're doing well enough, you'll pull through. The problem is when the lag locks you up for a good 30 seconds, or just at a very crucial wrong moment.
The reason you are dying is merely because, honestly. The AI has outsmarted you in combat.
You need to learn what they do and what you can do to counter it. Your stats mean nothing if you do not fight well. Player skill is important. Practice and you'll get better, thats all I can say.
This is not a typical MMO where you can just get the best gear and rock on. A skilled level ten player, can wipe a dire white wolf easily. A ten year old character that is level ten, at that.
Okay, first off.. if you're level 17, 18, or whatever and you can't level up? do a Ciar Beginner Dungeon run. you will level -fast- And if you're just killing wolves outside town..I'll tell you a secret. The reason you're not gaining 'massive amounts of xp'? Their anti camping system. Each successive kill is less xp in the same area. Unless you're in a dungeon.
As for the one being wiped around by monsters? Archers are support. Just like in most fantasy combat stuff. Not like in other mmorpg's. Until you know how to use your counter and maybe windmill well enough, an archer is support.
Counter will ALWAYS work unless they windmill or use ranged! You just need to wait for the skill to set. If you click for your skill you will notice it the icon changes size until it reaches one and plays a certain sound. That is it setting.
Just because you can't kill something doesn't mean its too hard. It means you need to practice and learn to fight better. Honestly your stats aren't nearly so important as player skill. This game rewards the skilled, not the grinders.
