I actually play EQ2, and I played WoW for a while. I also played EQ for a few years. One thing I can honestly day is that EQ2 is NOT a WoW clone. Just because you say it's so, doesn't make it true.

EQ2 has a great community and I've never seen it empty, though when AoC came out alot of the players left the game to try it. They may be back now, I don't know. I'm an on again-off again gamer and I quit EQ2 for a little while to take a break from MMO's.

EQ was the first MMORPG I ever played and I miss it. I've tried going back but it just isn't the same as it was years ago. I started playing shortly before the Luclin expansion came out, and I remember when you still had to sit and stare at your spell book just to meditate. :D Ahhh the good times.  EQ holds very fond memories for me and has a charm that I have yet to find in any other game I've played.

I also remember when the LotR Movies came out and every other character was named some form of Legolas or Aragorn.

And guilds at the lifts of Kelethin giving out free buffs for lowbies and doing activities to gain publicity for their guilds. And the time that the Sleeper was released on my server and everyone was freaking out.

You just don't see things like that in MMO's anymore.

      Everquest
    • Poll: Elyos or Asmodian
    • Definitely going for Asmo :) Since I'll be rolling an assassin, Asmo just seems to fit better.

       WoW did not invent raiding.

On another note, you don't have to raid and no one forces you do. I've done exactly ONE raid out of all the games I've played and it was fun but it's not something I would want to do on a regular basis. I'm not interested in raiding so whether they have instanced dungeons and raid zones or not doesn't bother me one bit.

    • I can't wait for this game to come out. I love NCsoft because they do tend to have beautiful graphics. I love Guild Wars for just that reason, and I thought L2 was a gorgeous game as well.

As for the moron who thinks the graphics look just like WoW....

      Get a life.

    • LOTRO or EQ2, which one should I pick.

LOTRO-I have a 27 hunter and 18 captain and really enjoy the story, graphics and community.

EQ2-I have a 10 Fury (druid) and found the world to be quite empty, graphics so-so (too plastic) and quests are not nearly as interesting as LOTRO.

      I recommend LOTRO.

I find it hilarious that you judge the whole game based on one, level 10 character. Try leveling past 10. There are 70 more to go, you know, and a whole lot of content to discover before you say the world is "empty".

I myself can't say anything about LOTRO. I bought it when it released, played for a couple of hours and then never played it again. It wasn't because I didn't like it. I would actually love to give it another try but I can't find where I put the damn game. :D I just had too much on my plate, so to speak, so I never renewed my sub. after the 30 days was up and canceled subscriptions to a couple of other games as well.

EQ2 is a fun game though and I've played it off and on ever since it launched. Grouping isn't necessary but it does make things easier. It is possible to solo all the way to 80 but where's the fun in that? I enjoy it alot and despite the fact that I flip flop around from game to game I always come back to EQ2.
