Force Unleashed? Haven't tried it. I've come to expect to be disappointed..
SWG... Yeah, that was amazing...pre-cu. It didn't feel very "star-warsy", but it was amazing to the point that it didn't matter too much.
That was before the dark times...before..the CU..
Back then, I was a brand new Master Weaponsmith (after the worst grind ever) on Talus, Gorath (They had already made it so that I couldn't wear any armour or carry weapons - except Bone and a C-def). It was bad, but I stuck it out. Then one day, a fearful Fynock (or some such weak flying creature) followed me into my house - which used to be a sanctuary. It incapped and killed me in front of my crafting station.
I later hopped on my speeder bike, went to the starport, sat down in a chair, and logged out. I haven't returned since. I can't see myself giving Lucas another dime after all that time i'll never get back.
Yeah, X-Wing and Tie Fighter were truly the best games Lucas Arts ever had their names on. Dark Forces was interesting since it was the first 3-D Star Wars environment. And even though the graphics sucked, Rebellion was a good strategy game that actually stayed true to the original movies.
It seems like it's all been down hill since then..movies included.
It's a bit more simplistic than I would have liked, but it was entertaining and has some interesting concepts. The big let down for me was when I got into space.
As I grew my "empire", made alliances and tried to make some cash, the computer started bugging the crap outta me every few minutes with missions to combat hostile incursions and kill infected animal populations. It was at this time that I started looking into trying to get a military presence established. After all, I designed all these military units, spaceship, etc.. surely a galactic "empire" will have more than one ship at it's disposal?
Nope. Just me - and a single ship from an ally as a wingman (and he was gone like a fart in a windstorm when we got attacked).
I can already see where this is going... the more I expand, the more headaches I will have to micromanage, since I am the galaxy's sole policeman, army, trader and handyman. I'll have precious little time to enjoy fun stuff like terraforming, trading, or exploring since I'll be rushing back and forth from planet to planet constantly. Not my idea of fun.
I'll stick it out a bit longer to see if this changes, but if it doesn't...it's uninstall time. It's hard for me to believe that a game this promising could faceplant so badly in what should have been the best stage of all.
"Occassionally someone will produce a footprint that they claim to have made a mold of, and these are either highly questionable or outright fraud."
Yeah..dermal ridges, physical deformaties and all. You generalize here. Police pathologists have been left scratching their heads over some of these molds.
While i can't say it isn't a hoax, my mind changed somewhat with the "mouth" photos. They also are clearly havng fun with their detractors.
If this is fake, they spent alot of money on this. I've seen plenty of cadavers, and that kind of realism doesn't come cheap.
After plenty of digging, I am more and more inclined to think it is a hoax. How it could go this far and what the perpetrators think the outcome will be, I don't know.
I still find it hard to believe anyone would trash themselves so badly by trying to do something like this and think they could get away with it. ![]()
