A bit Harsh.
I agree though

Oh sure people will always try it out - but the rention rate is what counts.
If WAR releases the way Vanguard and AoC did (which oddly enough seems to be the going trend with MMOs), then WAR will loose people quickly after launch.
Like AoC. I don't think it can possably live up to the Hype. I'm sure it will be Good, But as critical as People are. They will rip it apart.

It really is irrellevant how well people think WAR will do.
The fact is when WAR comes out there will be a lot of people trying it out. Those people have to come from somewhere. Some of them will be people new to the MMO genre - like WoW, WAR builds on a license that has a lot of none traditional MMO playing fans. But that will be only a fraction of players who will try out WAR.
A large junk will come from WoW, Lord of the Rings Online and Vanguard. How many players from AoC will try out WAR remains to be seen - it depends on how quickly Funcom can fix current issues and ensure all functionality is in and working - meaning: how hard Funcom will work to keep it's playerbase.
I think Even if the Fix ALL of AoC. People will want to Try it out. But Like ALL MMORPG's. you will have your Haters and Trollers

I think WAR will do much better than AOC. It won't be perfect of course, but Mark Jacobs won't allow the kind of idiocy that seems to go on at Funcom on a regular basis.
It's easy to talk that way about a game that is not done or out yet.

i would guess that the increase in Vanguard numbers has to do with the fact that Sony has re-activated all old Vanguard accounts and given away 2 months of free play time.
Vanguard is not part of Living Legacy

otherwise my account would be active
