Anyone who is willing to put in the time will see that Warcraft got most of its ideas and lore from Warhammer.  It is common knowledge.  It is not some huge conspiracy.  Blizzard presented Games Workshop with two ideas.  One was for a Fantasy RTS based on Warhammer lore and the other was a Sci-fi RTS based on Warhammer 40k lore.  Games Workshop turned down the deal so Blizzard decided to self publish since the already had alot of the game mechanics in place.  The put the Sci-fi game on the back burner since they did not haev the money to fund both games.  The altered the art work for the game enough not to be infronging on copyrights and then they came up with some quick lore ( about 20 pages).  They released the game Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans and it was a success.  The Sci-fi game on the back burner was eventually altered and what was originally Space Marines vs Eldar vs Tyranids became Starcraft with Terrans vs Protoss vs Zerg. The rest is history.

WoW's UI is not original, look at games that came out prior.  It coppied them.  If you check out the UI for AC you can see huge similarities.  WoW's combat system is not unique, again it coppied from other games.  The combat animations in WoW are not robust.  Melee have one animation with varrying particle effects for their special attacks.  Casters are the same with one casting animation for offense and one for defense, they just change the particle effect colors.

The blatant stupidity coming from people who say WAR is a clone of WoW is just irritating.  I do not care what game you like or dislike.  What I am tired of is all the liars and uninformed sheep who say what other idiots before them have said in an attempt to either sound profound or make WoW look like the second coming of Christ.

Dude all these things you say are correct. You are missing a single and very important point though. WoW was the first game that took all these influences and put it into a single product, that proved to be extremely successful. WAR is trying to reuse the recipe. A little less salt, a bit more pepper but it is the same recipe. Do you thing that WAR would be what it is today if WoW never existed?

And stop trying to put it the other way around. Blizzard stole the whole Warcraft lore thing from Games Workshop. But stealing the lore and copying a game are two different things. Becase using the lore you can make infinite different things, whereas copying a game gives you limited freedom. The limited freedom that the WAR design team had.

And after all, my point was that being a WoW-clone does not mean anything bad. On the contrary...

Because stealing ideas is really creative.  It doesn't matter if blizzy put into a game FIRST.  The time line is what determines what was first.  Because that is the real world.  Keep the fantasy within the games and the reality in the real world.

CoH is the game I love to return to but statesman was, in the long run, the reason for things being the way they are.  He could have made the game better but didn't want to make changes that players wanted.  Now he has a new game coming out and I wonder if he will now put in those changes.........

when i was talking about the quest up to max level and do the 3 things afterwards i was talking about all mmo's in general. i know you dont mess with low levels in warhammer because of the tier stuff or whatever. i admit i have not played it but i do know some things about it.

its funny how people are saying its not a wow clone when it clearly is. the only thing new about this game is you pvp more. that is it. the combat is the same click and watch and bunny hop (wow). there are quests that you do (also wow). crafting is also in this game (wow also). elves dwarves and orcs (wow) the interface is even the same(wow yet again). where is the one thing that makes it not wow? conan has its combat system. guildwars has its story driven missions, unique creatures like the char, and fun pvp.  the question is what does warhammer have? pvp? i have no clue please inform me. and please give me reason to your logic other than its awesome because it is.

Yes, it has auto attack. But try running through someone in WAR. That's right, collision detection and knockback! Woohoo! Quests...uh, yeah, quests are in pretty much every MMO in one form or another. Public Quests = next step. For crafting, you won't have to do the super raid 20 times for the formula for the mega enchant to drop. It's trial and error, not recipe based.

Elves, dwarves...blah blah blah...WAR first WoW second. Interface is customizable and even unique for some classes (Shamans have seperate bars for Mork and Gork). WAR is a casual, fun game that's based on some things that WORK from other MMOs and improving them, adding in their own little twists. Most importantly they're NOT claiming it's "revolutionary" so if you're going to complain about that, AoC is that way --------------->.

In WAR when you bunny hop sets your auto attack timer back to 0 and doesn't return to counting until you are standing back up.

Is this another one of those game addiction surveys?  It looks like it.
