I couldnt say i know it perfectly, No one can. Even the engineers at Autodesk 2008 launch were saying not one of them have the full knowledge of max. I decided yes though it is because i've been using it for arround 4 years now and have pritty much got environment and level design hands down.
My tip is to learn Max script. Because once you know it you won't need any level editor again. My max interface looks more or less like UnrealED, BigBang and Hammer all mashed into one.

back when SWG was in internal Beta, it was called Force. However now it's called i do beleave SOE.SWG.V(version number)....SWG never realy had a name for its engine. I'm sure the inhouse programmers made something up. However it was inhouse built and as property of SOE we will never be able to get our hands on it :(
For any game yes when pitching to the publishers you will need a working alpha or Pitch demo of the game in action. However first steps is selling the idea. I've uploaded some of my pitch sheets i've used for a game called Summit. Hope this gives you a good idea on what to expect. Yes it may not be a MMO but you do pitch MMO's more or less the same as any other AAA. However on a grander scale of things.

Please Note: These are first drafts and do not repersent the final pieaces.
For example, to create the lore, write quests, help work out the game concept and such? I'm wondering about that since I'm really interested in working on a game but since I have no programming and graphic design skills (And do posses story writing abilities and so on) I was wondering if I actually have a shot at contributing to a game on a proffessional basis.
You can go into the games industry on a proffesional basis, however many companies these days require a designer to have some sort of art/program skills.
It depends on the company as-well. You may come accross Bethsda who pay designers to create wonderfull indepth world lore, however you need sufficent evidence to proove your writing ability.
I myself got into the industry as a environment artist but got onboard with MMO design after my first AAA was released.
Companies look for people such as yourself, you either need to enter in on a Junior level and get taught skills you will need or look for studios such as RPG developers or MMO developers which are looking for story designers/mission designers.
Hope this helps
sorry cant tell you anymore due to how many game designers there are on this site and how many would love to have this concept however if you respond to this forum i will gladly tell you as long as you know this game concept is copyrighted so any illegal none condoned use of it will be immediately sent to the authorities.
No one could steal your idea unless they had a few million to make it. Your idea as you stated is concept. Theres an article on gamedev.net about designers sharing concepts not threatning you steal my amazing idea and i'll contact the authorities.
If the idea has copyright you might as-well post it, instead of threatning legal action. It's silly.
SOE have a MMO blog full of ideas they throw arround in the studio design meetings. Concepts are just concepts.
Do you currently play a SOE published game?
