They could have saved themselves and me a lot of hassle if they had just said up front that this is not an fpr or fps style game as I was led to belive and direction controls are with the A and D keys instead of the mouse.
I wouldn't have waited anxiously for the game for 2 years and turned into a hater.
Don't worry--there's no fps crossover, unfortunately, because it would be nice if the direction were controlled with the mouse, not the A and D keys, but I guess they couldn't get away from the Anarchy controls.
The stock traders obviously aren't gamers, and neither are gaming journalists, it seems, who made AoC the cover story for the July PC Gamer US, which seems to be what drove up the stock today.
They lost me when I found out your steer your character with the A and D keys.
Real-time combat is control your direction with mouse, W forward, D back, A sidestep left, D sidestep right.
If they had said this at the first, I wouldn't have anxiously awaited the release for years of what looked like it was going to be a great game.
Now it's just fun to watch the battle between the fanboys and the haters. Most of the fanboys haven't played, most of the haters have.
Just to reply to the title--I wouldn't buy a pc to play a specific game unless I had already played the game.
For gaming in general, you're much better off with XP. Vista sucks up an extra gig of ram, and some games won't even play on Vista.
TomsHardware.com has some good reference charts for graphics cards and processors, though some of the latest are not listed.
What is your favorite fantasy character type?
