Assuming for a second that the timeline has been totally and completely distorted, I get the feeling that this Hoth instance is not going to be what many peple expected.
Firstly, it's a PvE experience only right? The single most "iconic" battle in SW lore and already it's failing to achieve what people wanted for Hoth - a PvP battle.
Next, although vehicle combat sounds promising it loses some of it's thrill IMO because of the PvE only experience. Also it'll likely be a very linear experience accounting for only a portion of the instanace. The usual vehicle freedom the game offers will likely not exist with these vehicles, but rather you'll likely be guided through a canyon or path of some kind.
And I even have my doubts that the player will have control of the vehicle at all. My guess is that the player may only be a passenger or only have control of a turret of some kind while the vehicle is controled by an NPC.
But who knows? Maybe I'm wrong, but my gut tells me I'm not far off.
Smedley at Fan Faire just announced that the Battle for Echo Base will in fact be brought in as an instance. Imperials will be able to Battle with ATST's or snow speeders if your on the rebel side. Will be a complete layout of the entire station that will have something to do with rebel vs imperial in a hurry up and get the stuff out of the base if ur rebel. And an Imperial side invasion focused to stop the rebs from evac.
Also they are bringing back life day again this year and a Halloween type event.
