  • Another vote for Landroval.

    It's the unofficial RP server for North America, but there is plenty of RP to be had there. 

    I would have to agree with one of the posters above, there is easily more RP going on in this game than any other I've played.

  • LotRO will run under Ubuntu.

    
    One of my gaming rigs at home uses LINUX only and it plays LotRO quite will using Wine and Mono.
    
    There is a thread on the Ubuntu forums dealing with this exact issue.

    I think the only thing that hasn't been worked out is patching the High rez client in LINUX. You actually have to do it in windows then transfer the files.

    You can't make that big of a jump. They said there was a possibility of them making the price go up, they never, NEVER, said it would be that much nor did they give any price. You also can't make the connection that the more money you pay per month the better quality the game will be. I have played some free games that were better than some pay to play games.

     

    Who says u can't?  There is no law saying u have to charge so much monthly for an MMO!  If the IP/quality/content/etc is there ppl will pay for it regardless of cost!

    ...and I know they never said a price yet.

    Then what, Khyshi, would make you believe they would go from the standard $14.99 to a 10 dollar jump up to $24.99?

    Is that so bad!?  Eveything in this world has been having major price spikes!  You can't eat a fast food meal for less than $6 bucks now!  $24.99 is not much more and I'd have no problems paying that if the game was worth it!   ...and so far what little I know of War would be more than worth every penny!

    
    What I want to know is where you eat lunch for $6.

     

    I can't get away for less than $8-10 seems like anymore.

    I am a LotRO lifetime subscriber and I am still enjoying the game.  They have had 3+ free content updates and are already announcing an expansion for later this year.  There has been alot added since release and the game keeps getting better.

    Turbine didn't need to offer the lifetime sub to bring in people, the LotR franchise did that.  Once people saw it was a good game, the lifetime was a steal.  Last announcement put LotRO as the second most populus game subscription wise in north america behind WoW.

    Granted, it's not a powergamers game, it's more of a explorers game.  More about the journey rather than the destination.

  • Early on in Asheron's Call the one thing that terrorized low levels was the reedsharks!
