- Can you imagine how much money Blizzard would make if it launched a WoW-style sandbox?
Blizzard is smart. That's it.
Ripoff...Innovative....Creative. Whatever.
What they're doing is making money. That's the goal of a company. Game developer or not. They've put out good games, whether they're ripoffs of other games is beside the point.
Blizzard could, if they wanted, try to make a Sanbox MMO. But why? They've got Diablo 3. They're focused on that. They're creating new content for WoW. They are raking in too much cash on milking old franchises to care about creating something new.
Perhaps, maybe, they would come out with something new. Starcraft Online, whatever. I ask again, why? Their current MMO is still doing well, and there will be lines for miles across the world waiting for Lich King. All they would be doing is possibly risking this new title to failure becuase they are creating their own competition.
We Sandbox lovers who play EVE: Online and UO are a minority. Perhaps one day, we won't be.
