OP:
I was able to fix my constant crashing errors with my nVidia card. I was getting a good old BSoD. I ended up having to completely remove the nVidia app and drivers through the add/remove programs option and reboot with the windows system drivers. Then after the reboot, reinstall the latest.
And I was having a problem with the Realtek sound you show. Disabling it helped me (though of course it took a bit away from the game). After I installed a Sound Blaster card, I had some issues when the launcher settings didn't agree with the SB application that starts with launch. Then too, I had to change the nVidia app to game mode (I had it in entertainment). Then things were a lot more smooth.
Have you tried repartitioning your drive and putting 2 page files up?
Make custom power setting to make sure your drive doesn't go into power sav emode/sleep?
Also, I don't see the running processes of your system. If you send me a post/screenie, I'll see if there aren't a couple things I might suggest (regardless of how well you have tweaked it, sometime 2 heads are better than 1)
Originally posted by Agricola1I suspect that you'll see teh game tweaked in the after release months so lesser spec'd machines will run it better. Once they get a baseline lull, they can tweak the servers as well as adding in 'code' to promote less high PC stat usage.
I agree with you on this however as such high system specs will prevent mass appeal needed for active subs over 500k.
I'm not going all 'fanboi' in this comment...it's something I know from professional experience that usually happens. Whether subs go over 500K (or less) from 'over time appeal' is something we'll all have to wait for.
I built/bought my machine a couple months ago. It was primarily so I could run some processor intensive apps with the added bonus of having a machine that would run AoC. (I bumped the sound and video up a bit higher than I needed for the app, heh).
My wife is satisfied that i am doing my 'work work and I'm 95% happy with AoC's playability. But I never upgrade for a game unless it's a specific part replacement at a good price. That said, I buy/build a new machine every 12-18 months so I can run newer, stronger, faster, better (??!??) work apps so a lot of 'new' comes in pretty regularly.
Games (as with everything) come and go. Think of the rise and the fall of the dinosaurs, the roman empire, the Soviet Union, the George Bush...over time all good (and not so good) things come to an end. WoW is the big game to take away from now. In 3/4/5 years? Maybe not so much so. They can add content but they won't ever re-vamp the code to reflect the changes in technologies.
You can't accurately compare games like Aoc and WoW. They are market competitors but work on different cross sections of the market user base. People seem to think that (using 10million and .5million as WoW/AoC numbers respectively) companies say 'Well I made more money over time than you'll ever make...' Sure WoW has made a lot of money but if AoC's (and all the other 'name' titles) remain constant, WoW's market share will go down. It isn't about making the same amount of money as WoW (though that would be nice for any MMO) but about taking in whatever their baseline profit margin needs are and about taking away from the front runner, currently WoW. Even if AoC, WAR, AION etc remain stable at X number of users for next couple years, over time WoWs sub base will go down and that helps any MMO competitors. Wow may go down slowly perhaps but it will go down.
Who cares? The fanbois, the haters and the bean counters (and shareholders if a company has them).
Rather than fighting incessantly, just find your game of choice and play it, enjoy it for as long as you can then then move on. Standing on sopaboxes here really serves no purpose. Look at it that way and you'll realize that the gaming companies don't care if you are ranting against them or rooting for them. Spend time wisely where you can make a differnce. If we all did that the world would be a nicer place. ![]()
US version for US servers only. Have to by a EURO version to play on EURO servers, mate. I would assume the codes are set up by region as well, though it is possible that is factored by the registered account location.
Which IP would you like to see become Bioware's new MMO?
