Only thing you can do is try em both once they arrive. All the speculating is nonsense because noone knows how both games will be once they have been out for a couple of months.

From my experience, LOTRO. Very easy to find willing people for the most part. People are generally very friendly. The system works quite well with a lot of help for getting in groups. Not only is the game 'fellowship friendly', it provides for some of the most fun. Plus you gotta love Fellowship conjunction moves.
I like cake.
