I really can't see Bioware making any announcement relating to a Star Wars title, if they are working on one - this would really come from LucasArts. But who knows!
You can check out my old SWGalaxies.net site that has a ton of old info.

I noticed the route you took. AWAY from the Cantina areas where people normally are. Besides, with player cities and generally more players to be, you won't find it like the old days with Doctor buff Q's any more.
Says the person who hasn't played the game in a long long time. Since you have NO experience of Galaxies, how can I take your comment seriously? I can't
Unfortunately, you will never get decent replies to questions because of the so called 'veterans' - who, if they left in 2005, are no longer veterans, since those who picked up the game since NGE have been playing the game longer.
However, many of the original players, like myself, were outraged at how SOE went about introducing the changes to the game and will never forget, or forgive. On my website, I was very vocal since the changes at that time DID destroy the game.
Since then, the game HAS moved forward. Apart from the 34 professions and the superb skill tree system, many features from pre-cu have been brought back in to the game. The game is SO different to NGE back in 2005. Many 'veterans' still complain, without even having played NGE 2008, for reasons I have already stated.
Are the servers empty? The numbers are considerbly lower than back in 2005 for many reasons. The biggest one has to be the introduction of NGE, which essentially wiped the servers of the previous community. Also, the MMO market has expanded with hundreds of MMOs out there. In addition to this, Galaxies has introduced many new planets, instances but removed all the key meeting points of old, giving the impression there were alot of people around.
Pre-cu, Coronet was THE hub to meet up, get a doctor buff and move on. Or, there would be the huge grinding groups on Dantooine killing Bols to help Jedi increase their skills - great for Bounty Hunters. These have all but gone, as guilds tend to do more focused stuff together and will buff their own players in houses around the galaxy.
The current development team, I believe, have the player base interests at the heart of the game. They have learned from the mistakes of old and are now delivering some excellent changes and improvements to the game that we have never seen before.
Do we really want to return to pre-cu? Where the game was broken in many parts, the content was lacking and the development back then, didnt have a clear plan? I for one, wouldn't want to, despite missing the skill tree system. 34 professions was way too much.
Personally, the biggest problem right now is to bring life back into the game with our Traders. If people want to be the 'Uncle Owen' of Galaxies, they should be allowed to
