    • Population Estimate: 55,000-159,000 Players
    • Well I am a newish player (started in August) and judging by the New Player chat channel I am not the only one. I am not a raid player, but rather a roleplayer and have never used X-fire. Really the only regret I have is not pre ordering . While the game does not deliver all that was promised at release it is fun imo and does get better each update. The last update really boosted performance. Coming from ddo I think I can safely say the game will do fine as a nitch game even under 100,000 players. Server merges maybe needed, but hey does it matter how many server you have if the ones you have are healthy?

    • Will this run Age of Conan?

Bah, I use a Pentium C2D E4600 (2.4ghz) processor and the exact same vid card as OP and I run the game at high settings. I really only had to turn shadows down (not off) and turn off AA to get really smooth game play on high.

      General Discussion
    • Are D&D and AoC similar?
    • I happen to play both games and Aoc and ddo are similar in the fact that they both use non standard combat systems. AoC is has much better graphics imo. DDo has a MUCH better community though. I guess it depends on whats important to you.

I played ddo since release and really thought no game would unseat my ddo addiction, but much to my suprise I rarely log into ddo anymore and I play AoC several nights a week. I really enjoy the pvp, graphics, and gritty adult themed world AoC has to offer. Thats not saying ddo is a bad game, infact its a great game. I believe I just got tired of it. I have also come to the realization that I am sick to death of elves, dwarves, and halflings.

      D&D Online
    • I ame I saw I left.
    •  Well a couple of things. My main MMO's were DDO & LoTRO and folks said horrid things about ddo soon after launch, yet I played it from release and still love it. I just have done everything quite a few times and am trying other things until mod 8. I never thought anyone was a troll I just thought we might have different gaming tastes.

The game actually ran smooth for me on medium settings, but I place a great deal of importants on visuals and medium just doesn't cut it for me. If i could get past the dull details and the boxed in feeling ( I know I was warned I just didn't imagine it would be that bad) I might see some merit in the game. After reading some video tweeks i'm going to give it one more shot to see if i can make some improvements to make it (IMO) playable.

The online videos made the game look way better than what IMO a pc that better than average can produce.

    • Ok so I am a dumbass. I did not follow the advice found here to wait 6 to 9 month to buy this game. I thought I would form my own opinion instead. That  opinion would be... this game has horrible graphics! My character runs like an extra from planet of the apes. Plants, trees, etc are so dense I feel closterphobic.  The combat mechanic was "ok", but I was forced to run at medium setting on a pc that runs LotRo on ultra high with 30-80 frame rates. I feel totally dooped by the reviewers and by funcom. Luckly I called Walmart this morning and they said a return was no problem. Feel free to say I told you so. I deserve it.

What are your views on PvP?

I don't like PvP combat.
I think it is the best part about MMORPG's.
I don't care either way.
