If it is anything like other trials I've used, they will not be giving the game away. One of the requirements to be able to log into the game is enterring in your retail key which comes with the box, or is emailed to you if you purchase it digitally. You will not receive this key from a buddy pass, and the buddy pass will expire after the trial length is completed. Even if they do begin charging you immediately for the game, they will not be "giving" it away, that retail key is a MUST to continue playing.
Any costs incurred to trial the game would be in addition to the cost of purchasing a retail copy.

The OP is saying that Funcom gives their game client away for 15€ if you start the trial.
Which I find very amazing!
No, I don't want to call anyone stupid or so...but.
Retailer - 30€ with 30 days.
Buddy key - 15€ with 40 days.
Hmm.
You need to pay for trial???
Obviously some are...
Think here for once.
If the OP are correct when he says, or inclining, that Funcom will take a month subscription with the trial. That would mean that they first give you 10 days to test the game, and after that they take the subscription fee for one month. That would mean they sell you the game for 15€ if you take a trial while it still cost c:a 30€ in stores.
Does that sound likely to happen?
I mean what do you believe?
Except when your trial ends you will be required to purchase the game at full price to get your retail key before you can continue playing. My main concern would be if they start billing you immediately after the trial ends whether you've gotten the retail key or not. However, like several have stated already, it's pretty simple to cancel the subscription before the trial ends.
Too bad there are people like me though, who are either lazy or protective of their CC info and will not want to deal with the extra hassle or needlessly hand out their CC info.

No, you are thinking masteries. Careers basically equal classes, just semantics really. Those are more similar to WoW talent trees. As for the other fronts, you seem to be missing the fundamental point. You still need to win at least one other racial front before you can take the opposing sides capital, so you still need to fight in those other fronts (anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong).
No, you're right.
I still argue that there were really only 4 classes to begin with though.
Are you referring to class categories? I've just been lurking and it seems very confusing when you say 4 classes and everyone else says 20.
Just curious, how do you guys with the low page file usage keep it so low?
My rig is a bit better than your's but I'll relate my experience with you in case it helps.
Opteron 175 (2.4ghz dual core)
8800GT 512mb
3 gigs RAM
With these specs I run on low-med settings with these results
~ 10 - 30 fps in open zones, depending on population/zone
~40 fps on average in solo instances
~1-8 fps in group dungeons
The game looks fine and runs alright while outdoors. I get alot of popping in due to view distance, and some occasional stutters. The real problem is grouping with your peers in group dungeons, IF we are the only group in the area I can function but if there are any others my framerate floors to ~1 fps until all combat ceases. Arena pvp can cause some problems but only when both teams stick together. The game is playable for me but sometimes I do feel like I'm locked out of some content because of my rig.
As far as other games go, I can run every other game I own on maximum, the most demanding being Oblivion, Frontlines, and Bioshock with relative ease. I don't have a problem with the game being resource intensive, but I think the reqs they put on the box are a joke for anyone who doesn't play hermit in the mountains.
Retail box or Download?
