    Age of Conan is a step above with throwing you into the starting area. The story and pace makes you want to push forward, which is kind of cool. It at least gives you an "illusion" of skills and control because of the combat system, just a slight reinvention of button mashing. :)

     

    Yeah instead of hitting "special melee attack one", now you hit " special melee attack one, then 1, 2 or 3". Just more hastle which is stupid imo. Ultima Online had the best starting areas, as well as EQ1 ( old school). Nothing friendly, just plop you into the world. If you didn't make it, tough luck. Go play hello kitty or something :).

    I agree with everyone who is asking why all the hate?

    Aren't we all gamers?

    Why is it when someone raises a concern about a game immediately they're flamed?

    And why is it the instant someone compliments a game they too are immediately flamed?

    I think its the amazingly small egos people seem to have, where they gotta log on and blast people they don't even know so they can get their kicks.

    Personally I'm looking forward to AoC, and WAR,  and yes even Darkfall

    Jerid man, it's the unwritten rule of the mmo genre. Thou shalt not play more than one mmo at a time, thou shall bash horribly the previously played mmo and hate anyone who plays it, thou shall be a blind fanboi to the current mmo being played and ignore all it's faults by saying such phrases as, " Go back to WoW, or in WoWs case, "Go back to Runescape".

     

    What you are doing, going to play AoC, War AND darkfall? WHAT?!?¿¿. How can this be? you sir are an abomination of MMO ethics and fanboism!

  • LoL Zelph, I feel your pain. Sadly wow brought in far too many new MMO comers that need some serious mmo history checks. For example, I heard a comment the other day that rocked my world, " WoW is the first mmo to ever establish a battleground!". If anything WAR resembles so many great things that DAOC had and more. If you compare how the game runs animation wise and the overall feel of the game it just seems more like DAOC than anything. Still screenshots, sure, they may look like wow a bit in graphic terms, but overall gameplay and feel of the game will lean heavy to DAOC.
